Its not the Andromeda Strain.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

"The Mexican Strain..."

Just when you thought it was safe to go to the border...

I wonder how Taco Bell is doing in the states?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

So people are dying 'cus of a virus that initially affects the swine population and someone who eats kosher finds the name offensive. That's just so completely irrelevant I don't get how it's even a motive to debate over.

So now they should have called Bird Flu "Chinese Death Fever" or something like that? This guy is moron, plain and simple.

I second that, Avian Flu was avian flu therefore swine flu IS swine flu. A trend was started why change it just because a nutcase doesn't seem to like the stupid name?

naming it Mexican Flu doesn't bother me IF the prior flu would've been called Chinese flu

There has been 100+ deaths BUT still I don't like the name! :ranting: ...imbecile

Well the big global pandemic WAS called "Spanish Flu", but that was back when there was a lot less political correctness.

There are a number of diseases that are named after the place where it was first identified or general point of origin. Its not uncommon.

West Nile Virus

Australian Spotted Fever

African Sleeping Sickness

Central Asian hemorrhagic fever

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever

Mexico complains!

Mexico on Tuesday launched an official complaint to Israel regarding Deputy Health Minister Ya'acov Litzman's suggestion to call swine flu "Mexican flu" in deference to Muslim and Jewish sensitivities over pork.

Mexico's Ambassador to Israel Frederico Salas complained to the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem that the name Mexican influenza was bothersome and worrying.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that Israel had no intention of changing the name of the virus and emphasized the friendly ties between Israel and Mexico.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
