Old tax returns optional?

Hi.

We are planning to send our tax returns for last 3 years alongwith AOS package for my mother-in-law's IV. However, according to I864 form, you only have to send copies of last year's return & sending previous 2 years is OPTIONAL?

Anybody has more information in this regard?

There is no reason not to send all three, even though two of them are optional. In my opinion, the more informaton the better as to sponsorship questions, so as to eliminate any possible doubt.

I sent 3 years of tax transcripts, did not see any reason not to send all three years. IRS Tax Transcripts are easier to send than the full tax return and all the W2's and 1099's.

Yes it is optional. It doesn't hurt to send your tax transcripts either. Am planning on sending last 3 yrs of tax transcripts(not tax returns) myself along with the AOS package for my parents.
