Airlines Offers Refunds to Mexico Travelers Due to Swine Flu

US Airways, United, Continental and American Airlines are offering to waive change fees for customers with booked flights to Mexico due to the influenza outbreak in Mexico.

According to the US Airways Web site, US Airways "will waive the standard change fee, advance reservation and ticketing requirements for customers with travel to, from or through Mexico City" for travel through April 30. American Airlines said it will waive its usual change fee for anyone with Mexico travel through May 6

Mexico travelers can change their entire itinerary up to seven days before or after the scheduled origination date, or choose a credit valued at the full cost of your Mexico airline ticket that can be used toward the purchase of another US Airways flight within seven days of the scheduled origination date.

US Airways does post a disclaimer on their site that says some airline tickets may not be eligible for all or a part of this refund. If you purchased your Mexico airline ticket through a third-party site or discount travel Web site, you should call US Air to determine your options for refunding or changing your Mexico travel plans.
