I have a quick question regarding the 'medical' requirement for AOS. My medical from my K1 will still be less that a year when I file (med was Feb 2009). The Consulate kept the entire medical package, except the vaccination waiver form that was attached to the outside and the Xray that I have.

I never was able to copy my med papers as the envelope stayed sealed.

What do I use as proof for AOS filing? Do I just include a copy of the vaccination waiver from Seidan and Assoc? Is this good enough? Or do I call Seiden and Assoc in Toronto for a copy?

We're getting married on Tuesday, and when I get back from our trip, I will be filing.

Any help is appreciated :)

Are your vaccinations complete or do you require something more? If they are complete, then I would just include the vaccination worksheet (keep a copy for yourself) that you got from your medical and you will probably be ok. If you need to have any shots updated, then you will need to have a Civil Surgeon here in the US fill out the medical form affirming that your vaccinations are now complete. This can become tricky as a lot of civil surgeons will try to tell you that you need the whole medical redone - you do not. If worse comes to worse and you can't find a local civil surgeon who will provide only what is necessary, there is a Texas Civil Surgeon who will work by mail and do the paperwork for you for a nominal fee.

Actually, the Consulate didn't keep your medical file - it was inside that brown envelope that you carried to the border and handed over when you entered on your K-1. That envelope contained your complete immigration file from filing the I-129f to completing the K-1. When you turned it in at the border it was forwarded to your local USCIS office where it is waiting to be matched up with your AOS when you file. So, immigration already has your medical information.

Thanks Katheryn. I gave nothing outstanding. My son has one last shot left in his HepB schedule, but he is not due to have it for another 4 months...it needs to be administered 5 months after the second shot he had a month ago. I guess they are satisfied as long as he is up to date on his shots?

I'll just include a copy of that sheet...hoping not to get an RFE...lol...

Yeah I did that, many do and don't get an RFE as long as everything is up to date! You should be OK!

I just thought i'd report on my SSN experience. I went today at the local office here in Littleton and everything went smoothly. She took my application and my passport, typed in the computer for a couple minutes, had me sign a form and said I will have my card in 2 weeks or less.

Maybe this means I was actually in the system?

I too went to get my SSN yesterday at office in Oceanside CA. Was in and out in 20 minutes. Two big factors made it easy said the social security employee who took my application.

1. I waited long enough to be officially in the SAVE system... ( just under 4 weeks is how long I waited)

2. they do enough K1's to know the procedure.

So I too was promised the card within 5-7 days.

I also got my biometrics notice today... so I have that going for me. Yay!!!!

Now to start studying for my California drivers tests. Yes, both a written and driven.

It's been almost 30 years since I took a drivers test.

Yikes.

Awesome! I sure hope so... Not being able to use a credit card is annoying.

I'm happy to hear you guys had success!

I'll check my mail for my SSN when I get back. I got a certified copy of my marriage license yesterday, so I'm going to file my AOS when I get back from vaca :)

I'm still using my Canadian credit card, but just changed my address to my US address with them.

I also got car insr with Geico until I register my car.

I have the two cards I got (macys and JCP) and my hubby has given me two of his credit cards..that works lol!

I'm gonna prep my AOS package and then run it by you guys before I send it in :)

I still have my Canadian credit card, but with no American account to link up with my Canadian one, I have no way of paying the bill if I use it... aside from trying to mail cheques to Canada, which can be messy and inconvenient. I didn't think of that when I drained all my Canadian cash out of it before moving... not like there was a lot of it! How can you use your husbands credit cards? Isn't that a big no-no? Around here, if you can't produce ID to show you are the owner of the card you're in deep trouble. Otherwise, I would definitely be using my fiances card!

When I first got here, I used Glen's debit and credit cards... At the grocery store I would go to self checkout, at the gas station you swipe it yourself.... I would use it sometimes at a regular store and no one ever glances at the card even. I know they should as what if it was stolen! But they never do, even now with my own cards I never get asked for ID, etc. If I had been asked, I was planning on saying it was my husband's

I noticed that no one checks for ID in NYC, but when we were in Vegas every.single.person checked my ID when I used a credit card. So I bet it's similar in Colorado since it's so close.

I'm still waiting for my debit card to come in the mail! I signed up for a bank account last Saturday and Chase doesn't give out temporary cards or anything, so I have to wait until my debit card comes in the mail! I hope it comes today. He said 5 business days. In the meantime, I have actually had a lot of luck using my Canadian debit card everywhere. It works everywhere except Target so far. And some stores won't let me use it cause it has no VISA sign on it, but most of the time it works, so that's good. I'm just sick of paying surcharges!!

Keep in mind all you ladies using your CDN cards, you get a 3% surcharge on top of the exchange rate when you use a Canadian card. Or at least I do.

I pretty much have switched over everything now and signed up for CustomHouse! The only thing I need to do is sign up for a credit card at some point, but I'm going to wait until i get a job for that since I think i would have a better chance with an income and I don't need one yet anyways.
