Hi guys,

It occurred to me that I could probably get the shots needed while waiting instead of saving them all for the medical at K1 or AOS stage.

As far as I know, we need MMR and chickenpox listed at the Malaysia embassy.

Any other shots I should know about?

That is not correct!

Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations on behalf of immigrant visa applicants are now required to either verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the new vaccination requirements, or to state that it is medically inappropriate for the visa applicant to receive one or more of the listed vaccinations. Required vaccinations include:

Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Polio, Tetanus and Diphtheria, Toxoids, Pertussis, Influenzae B (HIB), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Pneumococcal, and Influenza.

Good luck, Farah!

I assume you do not understand that a "K" visa is a NON-immigrant visa....

Vaccination Requirements

United States immigration law requires immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations of immigrant visa applicants are required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the vaccination requirements. See IV Vaccination Requirements for the list of required vaccinations and additional information.

As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.

Thanks for the replies guys!

And wow thanks to rainschild2007 I now know that there's a panel of physicians in Sabah. Previously I had thought I had to fly 2.5 hours across the south china sea to KL to get a medical check up. This makes things so much easier. It made my day.

I will be getting the shots I can along the way to 'pace' it all out and because it should be cheaper here. Also think having a list of immunizations, from the same doc is easier. AND it will give me something to do during the few months it takes to wait for NOA2 and Packet 4. Funny..."Going crazy from waiting for your NOA2? Have a shot!"

Hello Farah :)

I'm applying from Malaysia and I actually just went for the medical checkup the other day.. uhm on Saturday, 25th April actually. It was fairly easy... I had to take only 2 shots. They're for Mumps, Rubella, etc... and the other one's for anti-HPV shot. Also, they'll take a sample of your blood. Then have to go for an chest X-ray screening... that's pretty much about it :) They'll tell you where to go for the medical checkup in Packet 4 and yes, they have 1 in KL, 1 in Penang and 2 in Sabah/Sarawak if i'm not wrong :)

It costs me RM588. Don't worry if you don't have vaccination records, they will just work with you according to your age, which vaccinations you should've gotten when you're young :)

Oh yeah, by the way, the doctor called me today and told me that my medical checkup documents are ready to be picked up :) Yay!

Good luck to you :)

I'm so glad I read this thread!! I also thought of getting ALL the vaccines while I'm here in the Philippines. Right now I think I will just get the basic ones (influenza, measles and hepa A and B) but will talk to my doctor if I can get more of those. We are currently waiting for NOA2, we didn't get an email but the USCIS automated thing said that they already sent an I-797 to him in Anchorage. He is in Prudhoe at the moment and won't be able to check his mail until he gets home! I'm getting anxious -_-

Good luck to everyone!! :)
