Memory Card Deleted after flight

I had assumed that only print film could be damaged by airport scans, this is the first that I had heard that it could erase digital flash media.

Luckily, this is only an issue for really high ISO films (800+) so most consumer print films don't become damaged. Lol who still shoots on film though? :P

I used to work at a photo lab, and was always lead to believe that if your camera and film was packed in checked luggage, then you'll lose your pictures. I developed many a roll that was ruined! :( However the Xrays for carry on aren't quite as strong therefore, no one ever seemed to lose pictures when it went through there. I don't know where the camera was in this situation, however, I have always cautioned people to take camera's and film with the carry on bags. There be a few out there that still likes the old fashioned kind of camera and film. :P

I have never had a problem losing my pictures. I've had them on XD (very small memory card) and SD. My last trip was to Greece, and a month long visit in SC, and had well over 1000 pic's on my card. Everyone of them came home with me. I really can't answer why, if this particular camera was in the carry on, the memory card would be erased.
