Hello all!

First off, i want to thank everyone who posts on this site, i have used a lot of information regarding the immigration procedure. This is my first post, and I have a few questions that i haven't found answers to that are specific to our case.

1. Now that I have received both NOA2s (I-130 & I-129F), what should I expect? My wife has not yet received any correspondence from the Consulate in Cd. Juarez, as I have just received the NOA2.

2. What are the pros/cons with going for the K3, as opposed to the CR1?

3. I'm a student so I will need a co-sponsor. How will this affect the interview process?

Um, that's all I can think of at the moment, but any other tips will be greatly appreciated. I'm going to be so happy to finally have this process over with and be together again.

Cheers all!

Tyson

If both are approved, you can expect to BOTH receiving some paperwork shortly from the consulate (to your wife for the K3) and/or from NVC to you for the CR1.

2. What are the pros/cons with going for the K3, as opposed to the CR1?

All the "pros" go to the CR1 really. I don't know what the processing timelines are like for CD, but in the long run, the CR1 is the superior visa to get, as it is work authorized, and you don't need to adjust status after getting to the US. K3 *might* be marginally quicker to complete, but if its just a few weeks, and then you still have to AOS after getting to the US, is a few weeks faster really worth the $1010 AOS fees?

3. I'm a student so I will need a co-sponsor. How will this affect the interview process?

You might want to check out the CD Consulate reviews and the Mexico forum to find that out. Some consulates are more strict on co-sponsors than others, and it is rather consulate specific. Generally speaking, it shouldn't be a problem, that's why the option is made availabl.

Thank you for your relpy!

I have been looking at the difference between NOA2 and interview times for both the K-3 and the CR1, and its about 4 months difference (43 days vs 170 something days!). Still, its a lot to pay for the Change of Status.

Concerning the Affidavits of Support, does the gov't mail that to me? I'm not sure what to expect paperwork-wise from this point forward. What documents are there now, and where does it go?

Thank-you for the assistance everybody!

Read the Guides here, all the info you need is there. And you will want to check out the CR1 forums specifically.
