Hi! I am a new member...I am here because I need to hear other people experience about my 1-90 application.

I recieved my GC Permanent Resident in 2007 and it was good until April 9, 2009. With the white paper that was sent together with my green card, the instruction says that I have to file for an I-90 application to replace my green card before it expires. Unfortunately, I sent my application last March 21, I recived my NOA for the payment then, I recieved my fingerprint appointment.

I did my fingerprint today, April 25, 2009.

I really need to know what the timeline for I-90 application. Please if there is somebody in this forum who had the same experience...please share it with me...I am really desperate to know because my driving license is already expired and I need my NOA One Year Extension to have my Driving License renew...PLEASE HELP!

I posted this under Family Based Visa also, because I am not sure which category I belong...Sorry

Did you file a I-751 to remove conditions? Why are you filing a I-90??

If you didn't file a I-751 within 90 days before your 2 year expiration date you are in DEEP trouble.

I did my fingerprint today, April 25. My I-90 has been accepted, so I gueesed I filed the right form...What do you think? Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry but as I said you are in DEEP trouble. The I-90 is for replacing lost GCs or GCs with mistakes on them. NOT

for renewing and getting the the 10 year GC.

You are out of status and can't work or travel and you are subject to removal proceedings [deportation]. Get working NOW on submitting the I-751 and write a letter ASAP saying why you were late in filing. You have to show "good cause" why you were late. Best to get a lawyer before sending in the I-751.

You will not get a extension letter. Hope you have the letter USCIS sent you saying you had to file a I-90 to renew your GC. Never heard of such a thing.Read it again.

Check the guides here on VJ.

Also Google "late filing 1-751".

Given the expiration on your card, you are a conditional resident and you need to remove conditions on residence. You need to file I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, as Haole said. What is the basis that you were granted permanent residence? Is it marriage to a US Citizen? Please fill in your timeline. It sure helps to give you better advice.

The notice that came with your GC is Form I-797D, I believe. Check the top detachable portion. That portion can be used as a mailer when requesting for a replacement card (for example if your card is lost, stolen, or becomes damaged, or your name or other information is incorrect). What you need to do is remove conditions on your GC.

At the back page of the I-797D, under the Additional Information About Your Card-Permanent Resident Card, it states:

"Your card has an expiration date. If you are a conditional resident, you should apply to remove the conditions 90 days before this card expires."

Hopefully I'm completely wrong but doubt so. If I'm correct it looks like you do have a good cause for filing the I-751 late and hopefully they will accept it. I'm not USCIS tho.

i just scheduled an infopass for next week, however, i will also call the USCIS and inquire, then I will send the needed form. I hope things will work out. It is misleading...beacuse the Green Card says...Permanent Resident Card...Wish they would say...Conditional Permanent Resident Card.

I am married to a US citizen...

We got married in July 2006.

My expired GC is dated 01-09-07 to 01-09-09

I-90 Receipt Date 04-02

Fingerprint April 25

Yes, I saw that now...I have to call USCIS and let them know. Then I will send the right form right away. My husband will surely get upset. This is very tiring! Aside from the fees are very expensive. It is very difficult to juggle between two jobs, taking care of my family and filing all this doscuments. I guess I have to file a leave of absence until I have this done.

Start working on getting your evidence of a bona fide marriage and you are living together.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;page=751guide

If you have solid evidence why you failed to file ontime you should be OK. Submit copies of everything you filed for the I-90 and explain why you filed it. Get the I-751 filed ASAP.

Almost 3 in the morning where you live. Only 8:40 PM here in Hawaii. Go to bed and others may add information Sunday.

I live in NJ. I just filed out my I-751 and wrote my letter. I have butterflies in my stomach right now. I can't sleep. Yes, I have to go to work tomorrow, Sunday - 12:00 pm to 5pm. I sometimes work 7 days a week. I am a Preschool teacher and I work retail-part time.

I worry too much...I can't help it. I am researching on where to get the FD-258. can you help me... And thank you very much for your concern, i know i need rest...but with the stupid thing I did...I just cant help but to worry.

1. I have my expired GC

2. Apartment Lease since 2006 to Present

3. Joint Bank Account

4. Joint Credit Card

5. Joint Income Tax Return

I still need to work on my additional evidence and FD-258. I just did my biometrics yesterday, April 25, but that is for I-90. Can I use that for I-751?
