Are there specific translation requirements for the marriage certificate used when filing the I-130 petition? I'm aware of USCIS requirements for translations but am referring to any specific standard later required by USEM. Just how does one go about obtaining the necessary certificate and translation for the initial petition filing? Is a different "original" from NSO certificate required at the NVC stage?

Thank you. So, approximately how long does it take to obtain the marriage certificate after the marriage takes place?

The Local Civil Registry (LCR) copy can be obtained with a certified stamp in about a week depending upon the city hall. The NVC copy can take up to 3 months also depending on how quickly the LCR sends it in.

Without going into specifics, contacting the LCR can speed up the process.

The LCR copy was good for the USCIS process. We needed the NVC copy for the interview and AOS.

Perfect. I take it you mean that for NVC, the NSO document is needed?

After the wedding, the one who performs the ceremony will register it to the local civil regitry, (they usually register it a day after the wedding or a week after) then the civil registry will send a copy to NSO, they usually do it every 2 weeks( 15th and last day of the month), one can claim the NSO copy of marriage certificate after 2 weeks of requesting it from their office

Yep. Need original NSO documents for NVC. Not NSO CENOMAR[marriage index] tho. That may come up at the interview. Probably wouldn't hurt and may help at the interview.submitting one to NVC.

I got our NSO MC in 3 weeks. I had to donate P 3000 to someones "charity" tho to get it that fast. Normally tales about 3 months last I heard.

Need original NBI clearance and police clearance [if applicable] for NVC also.
