Co-sponsor have to make 125% above the poverty guideline?

Does the co-sponsor have to make 125% above the poverty guideline? Me, my husband and his 2 kids... My husband's income is $22,000/annual

Please enlighten us.

or does the co sponsor only needs to cover the SHORTFALL of the main sponsors income?

Sponsor needs more $5,000 to meet the requirements...

The co-sponsor must qualify at 125% "of" the poverty guideline for their own household plus the intending immigrant. The exception that allows combining income only applies when the two or more sponsors are part of the same household.

It depends on the situation. In a given case, if the co-sponsor hasn't sponsored anybody else previously, yes, they are only sponsoring the intending immigrant. For example when the petitioner and co-sponsor are not in the same household and the co-sponsor has a wife and child, they must have enough income for a household of 4, sponsor, spouse, child and intending immigrant. They don't count the US Citizen petitioner and they don't combine their income with anybody, not even their own spouse.

My husband and his father lives on the same roof.... so my dad in law should only sponsor me.. btw, his children are above 21 and has their own family..

Ok, we've going back and forth on this for two reasons. One is that you are not the petitioner and the other is that you haven't provided enough information. Since father and son are part of the same household, they can combine incomes if needed. The Petitioner really needs to be the one reading the I-864 instructions and asking any remaining questions.
