Hi all,

How would you go about obtaing a police clearance report from anthor city you stayed at years ago, if it is very far from where you are? Can you apply via mail or electronically? This is in the Philippines.

It says to submit a police cleaance from every city you lived in for more then 6 months after the age of 16.

My wife stayed in cebu with her aunt on and off for awhile she can't remeber how long she actually stayed ther for at one time, if it was longer then 6 months or not, However, whils she was there one time she had applied for a nbi police clearance from that address.

Should she even bother to list it being she is unsure how long she even stayed with her aunt at one time. If so how would she go about getting a police repot from there being it is a great distance from her?

Not sure what to do here, everthing is so complicated. I have the visa package about ready to go and then this issue came up.

Thanks all

Steve

she will only need NBI clearance. the police certificate they are talking about is that if she stay out of the country for more than six months..

NBI CLEARANCE: Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance for Travel Abroad Purposes from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, "No pending criminal case” or “With derogatory record.” NBI is located along Taft Avenue in Manila. You may contact NBI at (632) 523-82-31 to 38. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued.

to my understanding in form DS230 part 1 : list all places one have lived for at least 6 months since reaching the age of 16, including places in your country of nationality

having said that, list but not necessarily require police clearance unless if during the process and the USEM finds it necessary then request ... at least thats what i would do in case. NBI already represents the whole of Philippines. Whatever criminal record one has, it will be surely forwarded here.

Btw, like her, i've moved several times within my country so that iam listing them but i only have NBI to cover it. Anyway, those who are currently in Ph and are filing at PH consul may be of help better than me because iam into UAE consul and i shall be presenting NBI only.

hope it helps. Best wishes :star:

hi all,

if anyone else could answer this question as well, or give there opinion it would be greatly appriated:

is local police clearance required from everywhere she lived for over six months in the philippines, when filing for the cr-1/i-130 visa to bring my wife here from the philippines?; or ie the NBI clearance all that is needed?

The more comments and feedback I get on this the better i will feel before filing, knowing i am not doing something wrong.

Thanks so much for all the input and help.
