My wifes interview is in Lima Peru on the 12th of May. If it takes 4 days to recieve that means that it will be the week end and she wont get the papers untill the following monday. That will make it take a week to get the papers and I dont have that much time I can spend in peru.

Does any one know of a way to get the visa and passport papers faster so that we can maybe have them on friday? ( that is 3 days after the interview) That would save us 4 more days of waiting. She lives in Arequipa but we would gladly wait in Lima to get them faster.

I really want to be there for her interview. I have to buy the tickets real soon so prompt replies would be appreciated

You may want to post in the regional forums to find out if anybody has recent experience going through Lima.

I know when we went through Caracas, the passport with the visa attached would be returned via a private courier service. You got to specify the delivery address directly to the courier company after approval. There was no option to pick the visa up at the consulate, but you could have the private courier company hold it at the courier company's office in downtown Caracas. We did that, and it was available at 10:00am the day after the interview.

But this is the kind of thing that's going to vary from one consulate to another. The consulates know the local postal systems and courier services, and so they know what's reliable and what isn't. Each consulate will figure out a reasonable way of delivering visas to people in that country.

If you can't find anyone here with Lima experience, you may try to search the consulate's website or e-mail them directly. I'm sure this kind of thing gets asked often.

We had or interview on a Monday and stayed in Lima at a hotel right across from the embassy called the Polo Hotel and we picked up the visa at the DHL office on Wednesday and left that night. If you have your interview on Tuesday you should be able to get it by Thursday or Friday. Good luck with the interview and just let them know that you want to pick it up and when your flight leaves.

I would say that most people receive the visa in 2 days. But be prepared for anything.

My husband's visa was approved on a Tuesday, the 1st of the month and DHL said to pick up in 2 days. Long story short, it wasn't even issued until the 14th and we don't know when it was actually available to pick up.

Think positive but be prepared.

When you pay for the visa at DHL tell them you want to pick up the VISA. My husband did that and the next day we were able to pick up the visa. Less then 24 hours!! Make sure to take a copy of your DNI to get the visa.
