sounds like a good time to really avoid illegals.

Um, if they are already here there is no reason they should have the disease. And, I'm not sure if you noticed or not but AJ posted a link saying it's in parts of Cali and Texas. So, let's avoid those people instead since they actually have the disease and have been exposed to it.

Nice try Charles. You've just joined the ranks of PeeJay. What a wonderful accomplishment for you.

it sure beats being an apologist.

Yeah, my guess will be that if we "secure" the borders by an unnecessary fence, which in my opinion is like Viagra for a 90 year old, instead of targeting the problem like the failure of the Mexican government on creating jobs, the failure of the NAFTA nations to secure equal benefits instead of pretty much shipping US jobs to Mexico and creating "legal and EEO" sweat shops that only benefit a few (Mexican and American business men) and hurt many (low and middle-class Americans and Mexicans) and bottom line, the inefficacy of the American government on creating an immigration reform that will give the opportunity to those that are needed and the legality to employers to give them jobs instead of paying under the table to save a few bucks and cheat the tax system. These people are AMERICANS not ILLEGALS ok? they are also CHEATING THE SYSTEM, GET THAT INTO YOUR BRAIN if you can and they way you grew up doesn't affect your reasoning.

There are a lot of culprits on this matter PJ but you fail on noticing others but the illegals that are jumping the fence...

As a bonus to refute your statement above, ask this guy if the borders are so secure in terms of prevention of an epidemic, even by crossing legally,

Do you really think a fence will stop an epidemic??? kind of naive don't you think?

There are no 'bacteria' secure borders Peejay. However I am sure it pleases you to imagine that illegal immigrants would be the sole cause of any potential outbreak of flu sweeping the USA as they cross the borders on their inntertubes.

Quite honestly the most obvious way to get it is to travel in an airplane with someone who has the virus. Quarantines are not that easy to maintain.

but they sure beat doing nothing.

Obviously you don't travel much within the USA. If you did you might notice that there are mandatory inspection points for agricultural products even within the USA. If these protocols are bullshit...why even bother at all? But to open borders zealots and illegal alien cheerleaders any sort of inspection or control is racist and xenophobic.

Most people with a lick of common sense are not stupid and gullible enough to be taken in by the smokescreen of innuendo.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

innuendo.

That's an Italian suppository.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Supposedly the most common way that flu gets transmitted is from touching things that other people have touched (door handles etc).

I always understood the virus to be spread by the exhalation of 'water droplets' from the lungs. These can be forcefully exhaled quite some distance during sneezing and coughing. I am not sure how long they stay potent. I would have thought that even a short period the virus dies unless it finds itself a nice warm cosy damp spot.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

People aren't agricultural products PeeJay. No one is inspecting at the POE for signs of 'coughing' or difficulty breathing and putting them into a back room for medical inspection.

not really, as per PJ's reasoning, if the door was touched by a legal resident or US citizen, it should not contain any virus.

Howeverrrrr, if it was touched by an illegal, RUN!!! you are about to get lots and lots of ewwwwwy stuff

That's not true according to my cousin that lived and worked in China during the SARS epidemic. Passengers on international flights are scrutinized and people with signs of illness are quarantined.

But if you wish to live with your illusions and delusions you are welcome to it. Just don't try to get me to buy into it.

Agricultural products or not...diseases are spread by failure to contain them. People jumping over fences or floating over on innertubes across our border with pockets full of counterfeit, stolen, or fraudulent ID are bad policy no matter how you folks want to slice it and dice it.

What delusions would those be? The one's where you are convinced that every flight between Mexico and the US is being scrutinized for signs of flu in the passengers? The ones, including the US citizens who sneeze are being quarantined? Oh, that would be YOUR delusion

The illegal population may be guilty of many things, but being the sole culprits in this, or any other flu born epidemic are not one of them. Your paranoia is showing, again.

when we landed in china at that time there was a thing that checked ur body temp as u went thru if u had fever u got stopped mom gave any of my brother or sisters that were suffering from teething or normal colds something so that they would not register as having a temperature so i guess people could slip thru that were already sick from that i dont know but we didnt want to stay in quarantine in china for teething fever and simple cold

I can verify that during the SARS epedemic that all flights going into and coming out of China were screened. When I landed in Shanghai in July of '03 there were techs dressed in bio suits that came onto the plane before they would let us off. Everyone had their temp checked and were observed for signs of SARS. At every public area they had thermal cameras that everyone had to pass in front of before entering. To check into a hotel I had to have blood tests, X-Rays and my temp taken at a hospital before they would let me check in. They even stopped traffic and did random temp checks upon entering cities. Anyone that they had any doubts about were sent to quarintine. I almost ended up in a SARS hospital because my white blood cell count was high. It was only after I pitched a screaming fit did they allow me to go to a better hospital to have the tests repeated. It turned out all I had was a cold.

I am not saying that this is or should happen for people entering from Mexico but I can sure tell you the Chinese were serious about SARS. If this gets bad enough I am sure we could do the same. People forget that the Spanish flu in 1912 killed more people than WW1 did.
