Not all terrorists are suicide bombers, Steven.

Of course. They only became terrorist the second Bush came into office. Apparently prior to that, the world was peaceful and lived in harmony.

Who would have thought diplomacy was the way to everything. It took the Obama administration to come up with such a plan since everyone else during the past 4,000 was simply stupid.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

The Chinese, N. Koreans and N. Vietnamese treated our POWs so nicely because we were following the Geneva Convention. McCain got a VIP room at the Hanoi Hilton. We still have his photo there as a satisfied guest.

We must send a clear message to the terrorists: you WILL be tortured.

Yes. Only torture will frighten them out of blowing themselves up.

"You have nothing to fear, Mohammed. Americans are weak. If you're captured,

they will give you a lawyer and a cup of tea. May Allah be with you. Allah Akhbar!"

Oh, is that how they recruit them? Mohammed, we want you to blow yourself up, but don't fear capture and torture. Hmmm....

Not all terrorists are suicide bombers, Steven.

Zing! Just like the detainees...many of whom are innocent - merely someone pointing a finger at them and they were hauled off to Gitmo. How's that for justice.

I remember that. They would greet him with a, "would you like some tea" every morning.

If anyone catches a CIA agent, they are going to offer them tea and scones. They are going to sit them down and have a nice discussion, all while they are chopping body parts off. Ever hear of a CIA agent being released. Exactly.

So you would sanction torture if you were president?

I understand it as well the terrorist blowing up women and children in Iraq understand it. Also as well as the N.Vietnamese understood it. Get the point? probably not.

Honestly justifying this stuff has nothing to do with the spurious debate about whether or not waterboarding constitutes "torture" and whether or not it was "that bad".

Again the legal framework that says its ok to smother someone and pour water over their face, but not pull their fingernails out is about as meaningful in real terms as Bill Clinton excluding oral sex from his definition of "sexual relations".

The media's handling of the issue is pretty stupid IMO - perhaps they should be waterboarded before they throw out silly, pedestrian statements.

Pretty obvious you've never been to the Hanoi Hilton. Have any any idea what the "S's" are for POW treatment?

Yes, I get that in your world, things like terrorism can only be defeated by resorting to terrorism. Fortunately the civilized part of the world had a rather more contextual view of these kinds of problems.

Ah yes, the "if you were never there, you can't possibly have an informed opinion post". Good show.

I must have missed the part where the terrorists signed the Geneva convention.

Let me know when Al Qaeda signs up.

What difference does/should that make though?

That's not really the point though, is it? The treatment of terrorists by those who are signed up the the agreement is rather more pertinent.
