Ok, please leave this in Canada Forum...we're just havin some fun swapping stories...

As i'm sure some of you love your MIL's, my MIL to be... well, how can you not love her.... The great thing is that my fiance knows 'our' place and where she stands in the relationship, and it ain't between us... which is great... we laugh our butts off when we get off the phone with her...

So when I first met her... it was all 'so, what do you do?' and bragging to her friends about 'oh my son's girlfriend, she's Greek you know...what a nice girl'.... then she finds out you are marrying her son, and the tune changes lol!

Last weekend, he told her a few times he was going to MTL for interview... the whole time we were there, she was calling his phone leaving messages, 'where are you? I can't believe you are not coming to spend Greek Easter with your mother'... she's hilarious... we only told her 3x that we were in MTL... she is well aware of the fact that I live in TO and he drives 8 hours to see me...

When he first said that he was going up to 'Canada' for my Interview... she said 'why are you going all the way up there?', he explained it was for my interview. She said why canada? and he explained that, that's where I live... she says 'WELL, I THOUGHT SHE LIVED IN TORONTO!' HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA!

He asks her 'where do you think Toronto is'? she says 'I don't know, I just know you drive 8 hours!, you boys, I tell ya...' HAHA! She has 3 son's and no son has ever brought home a girlfriend worthy enough for her son's lol! She says 'these women these days, they have all these fancy tricks in bed' HAHAHA!

The woman is hilarious... you can't even hate her because she is so clueless... lets just say the brothers wife warned me when I first came into the family.....

I have more stories..... ah the new family....

I LOVE MY NEW MIL :help:

My MIL is so freakin awesome. on her 50th bday, that lady could hangggg. she was the last one standing and she could party for sure. more than I can. lol. although, her young personality get on the way of her goals. She is very laid back. She has helped me a lot with trying to find ways to get my point across everytime my husband and I disagree. She said he's a mama's boy so I have to change that and she keeps apologizing b/c she blames herself. lol

My MIL is a pretty cool lady, she calls me her daughter now and is so kind and loving to me.... when I moved here she'd call me often and ask if she could take me around, show me the neighborhood and stuff she's sweet.... The only thing I could say is that when she found out I was vegetarian she was shocked.... I guess she never met anyone that doesn't eat meat before.... she asked me if being vegetarian causes blindness (as I wear contacts) and she asked what on earth I eat.... I explained to her you don't need to eat meat to get protein, iron, etc there are many other forms of food to get that are non-meat.... she was and still is flabbergasted. So everytime we go over for dinner, she always makes me this gigantic salad. I mean it would last me 4 meals. It's so big and she throws every vegetable in the world into this salad, thinking ALL I eat are veggies. One time they were all eating pasta, regular old pasta sauce and I was like "Ummmm I'll eat that!" She said you will? But it's pasta with sauce! Yes, there's no meat in that I'll have some! She said "I thought vegetarians only ate vegetables" OH LORDY!! Now I bring sometimes a veggie lasanga over, a homemade soup, I'm trying to introduce her to other foods.... But besides that she truly is a sweet woman!

I don't see eye to eye with my MIL on a lot of things.

I think she's crazy.

She's got her husband and her two boys by the balls though so she must have some sort of magic going on.

We lived with my MIL for a few months (under her suggestion, and constant nagging to my husband, and convincing him that somehow it was the best idea until I got through Coast Guard bootcamp. Somehow my opinion was ignored in this decision )

Before bootcamp, we lived with her for about 5 months, and they were the worst 5 months of my life! Before we moved in, she was the best, well she changed overnight as soon as we moved in.

As soon as I got back from bootcamp, obviously the first thing I wanted to do was get us the heck out of there and off to my new station in LA. We've been here about 3 weeks now, and she's already taken it upon herself to invite herself here for a week in August.

Yea I lived with my inlaws last year... BAD IDEA! If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't do that part. I think living together for a year really put a strain on our mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationship.

My MIL is great! So far, anyway. I don't know her all that well yet, but she's been so sweet to me. Plus, she makes really good lasagna. :) I get the impression that she's really scared of being an overbearing mother-in-law, so she's making a conscious effort not to be one. Heh.

I don't know what happens to some people when they become MILs though. It's so weird! My Mom turns into an absolute basket case whenever my brother and his wife visit. I feel SOOO bad for my brother's wife. I'm always telling her "I don't know who that person is, but it's not my Mom! I swear, she's not usually like this!" I know she means well, and my brother's wife knows that too, it's just such an odd thing. Luckily my Mom hasn't been all weird like that around my husband... yet. I warned her before my husband came to visit and meet everyone back in January that she really needed to chill and just be herself, otherwise nobody was going to have any fun. Somehow that seemed to work. We'll see if it works again when my husband comes back to visit in a couple of weeks.

I really do love my MIL. She calls to chat with me and always ends the call with "I love you sweety." Her mom and my mom died within months of each other and she and I became really close and helped each other through the grieving period.

Now, my ex's mother was a bloody nutcase. Stories about her involve her throwing things at me and calling me names. Two weeks later she would be the very picture of kindness and love. She kind of scared me to tell the truth.

Haha I laugh at the momma's boy thing sometimes cause I think to an extent it's actually a really good thing. My mom's really tiny, about 5'2, and my wife is actually just about that same height and I think that taught me to be protective of women. I realize if the dude's trying to breast feed at the age of 13 there's a problem but I think being a lil bit of a momma's boy can be extremely good for the wife :)

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)
