hello VJ'rs

how are you all:)

my i-94 will expire on may 21,we just got married last saturday, april 18'and it will take 3-4 weeks before we get our marriage certificate.

and now the marriage certificate is the most important document we need for AOS right..

what can we do about it.can we call USCIS and tell em we are working on it and waiting for our marriage certificate...

we actually have all of the papers to be filled out,i also did apply for my SSN,but i will need to go back when i have my marriage certificate and change my name..

so basically we are just worried now about the AOS,i might get out of status...

thanks for your comments:)

It should not affect your AOS process. Just get it in as soon as possible. You will be "out of status" for a short time until your NOA1 for the AOS arrives. If it makes you uneasy, carry a copy of your marriage license with your passport and visa and you should be fine.

While it's best to file for AOS before your I-94 expires to remain in legal status, any extra time it takes is 'forgiven' once you file as long as you married within the 90 days.

hello,

where do you live? where did you get married, I got married in orlando and I got my certificate in less than 2 weeks, maybe you could get it before I94 will expire, I have heard that it is much better and the time of response from USCIS is shorter when they get all the paperwork before that card will be experied, try your best to do that.

Good luck!

Ali
