I'm sorry, but I don't have the detail yet, but I'm so worried that I thought if I post whatever information I've, someone could express their opinion.

My parent's IV got approved, stamped... I just talked to my mom and she said that in her passport it says something like "Attn: USDPS.. TB class AB"... Again, the passport is with my brother, so she couldn't recall what the exact text is on the passport... I asked her about her medical history and she mentioned that about 5 yrs ago, she was coughing a lot and the dr found a patch/mark on her lung... she got treated for a year and the mark was still there... but, the Dr told her it might be an old mark from the child when she had pnemonia or something from her childhood.

She went thru the medical checkup before her IV approval... I'm really concerned now... will they deny her entry when she gets to the US port of entry? Any advise on what she could/should do? I was reading some USCIS website, and it mention that the TB patient has to go thru the treatment before applying for AOS. Will my mom has to do the same thing? If so, then I should start looking for insurance, but I don't know if any insurance covers pre-existing cases... Thank you very much for any help.

This should not be a problem at the POE, if the medical problem was an Inadmissible one, the consulate would never have issued the visa.

their will be no problem at the poe, the CDC will send you a letter to have a follow-up test at the your local health office, if it needs treatment it will be free at the city health. Good luck.

To add more detail, my mom said that five yrs ago she was diagnosed with TB and was on medication for a year. However, even after the treatment, the scar on her chest remained and the Dr told her not to worry about it as the scar might be a permanent one from her childhood. She told all this to the Dr on her IV Medical checkup. The text on the visa says "Class A and Class B".

After reading your reply, I'm little relieved. I did the google search and it seems like as some of you mentioned, they'll send letter to the county and have us follow up there and get treatment if required. Once again, thank you very much.

What happened after your mom entered US? Was her passport stamped at POE or she had to go through medical exam here before getting her GC?

hi,

I know somebody that have the same case as your mom, there was not any problem at the POE. At the POE she was just advise to call and make an appointment at the city health dept. At the health department she underwent skin test and sputum test again for TB because they just wanted to be sure. Nothing to worry, if the results turn out positive, she will be treated.
