Daroy, You don't need to get another I-94...

They shouldn't be asking you to get another i-94 because you already have your ead card. It may be that the database is not updated yet, but no point of paying for something like that if it's me. I got my i94 at the port of entry.

Maybe if you lost your I-94, meaning it's your fault, then you can get the I-94 replacement. I don't know about that because i never have to get another I-94 just to get SSN.

The employee probably is a newbie. heheheh...

You come here to VJ to ask for questions, and people politely give you advice, but it seems like you just ignore that...

WELL,ITS JUST i saw it online that if u need a new I-94, u need to pay more than 300$ and i saw it in the UScis website. the employee in social security office told me to go to the immigration and get a new I-94.

im not trying to ignore all of your advice here, im just very confuse right now. Probably its because my I-94 expires already and they wanted me to get a new one and change my status. but i dont know. I feel bad about this because i thought i will be able to get a social security card already but nope. :( thanks for the advice guys!

This thread may help you....

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...3101&hl=SSN

read the part for the guides especially...

"

THE GUIDE

An individual that entered the United States with K-1 status applying for a work authorized SSN must present evidence at an SSA office to establish his or her age, identity and current lawful employment authorized status.

An individual needs to provide at least two documents as evidence to establish age, identity and current lawful employment authorized status.

Example: If the immigration document, i.e., I-94, I-551, I-766, is used to establish work authorization and identity, the alien must provide another document to establish age.

SSA will not assign an SSN or issue a card to an individual that is within 14 days of his or her alien status expiring. Until the 76th day after entry an individual with K-1 status only needs to provide an unexpired I-94 showing current K-1 status to establish employment authorized status for SSN purposes.

Once, an individual that entered the United States with K-1 status has been in the United States 76 days he or she will need another document, i.e. I-551 or I-766 to establish employment authorized status for SSN purposes. ..... "

YOU HAVE THE I-766, that's the EAD card. You can present that in replacement for your I-94

When you apply in person you don't need the SS-5. Not sure what you are saying, but SSA will not accept photocopies of documents. Now if they need to verify or translate a document they will photocopy it and give you back the original.

I think he meant just for their convenience. When I applied for my SS card, the guy took all my documents, photocopied them and stuffed them in a file. I'd guess if you already have original+copy of all your documents you can save a little time and get out of that nasty place faster :)
