I'm guessing the embassy mailed packet 3 to the wrong address or did something else equally stupid because it's been over a week and still no packet 3 after they claimed they mailed it. I attempted to ask if it was ok to mail the docs w/ the checklist they provided to me via email, but they have a habit of not answering my questions clearly or answering questions I didn't ask. My fiancee and I are in a time crunch right now and simply want to get packet 3 to the embassy to get an interview date ASAP. We have thought about simply mailing it, before we even get packet 3. Has anyone else tried this with the Bangkok embassy? If so, how did it turn out?

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

We waited till we got Packet3 before replying, but my understanding is that many people have sent theirs in as soon as the embassy confirms they have received the case from NVC. Look through the sawasdee thread (probably on the older sawasdee2, perhaps also on the newer sawasdee3) for more about this .

Two other points -

make sure you are following the NEW checklist, not the old one. The checklist on the embassy website is out of date with incorrect instructions. If you are not going to wait to get the new checklist in the mail do yourself a favor and get a copy of the new checklist - again, check sawasee thread. Danny (of Danny&Chada) is maintaining a page for BKK filing procedures that includes the new checklist.

You say that you are in a 'time crunch'. So are we all. That doesn't mean you're going to get your heart's desire. We mailed back our Packet 3 on April 3, the embassy has confirmed that they received it April 8. We are still waiting for them to SCHEDULE our interview, let alone actually have the darn thing 'ASAP'. We've been emailing them regularly for updates, the latest response we got is that they still haven't scheduled us due to a large backlog of cases they are working through. Be prepared to have more patience. You're not done yet.

The address they use was suppplied in your documents unless they just made one up. Our P 3 never arrived. We sent in our own checklist ect as described by others here. They will accept it if your case is on file. If not they discard it.

The last interviews that I know about were taking at least 60 days to schedual & they seem to be busier now so it may take longer.

There are many addresses for them to choose from on the supplied I-129F and G325A. I assumed they would pick the one where my fiancee was required to write her address in Thai, but that turned out to be a bad assumption. They used the first address on the G325A. I asked just before they claimed they sent it and got them to change the address to her current address.

We were hoping to have the visa in hand before May 29 so she could attend my sister's wedding in the U.S. I guess that isn't happening. Oh well, wishful thinking on my part. We will be sending in the packet 3 related forms right away though.

Here's the latest email we got today from BKK embassy. Not very encouraging news.

Subject: RE: IV Inquiry Case BNK2009xxxxx

From: Visasbkk@state.gov

Dear Khun xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx:

The IV Unit received your returned Packet 3 materials through the mail on April 8, 2009. Due to the large volume of applicants, the interview appointment will be scheduled after the IV Unit received the Packet 3 back in 6-8 weeks later. Once your interview date is set, we will notify you by mail.

Regards,

Correspondence Unit
