Have no such experience, so can't tell if they'll accept it or not. Worse case scenario, they'll return the whole package to you, then you have to cut the correct check and re-mail it. They specifically said to spell of "US Department of Homeland Security". Well... there's nothing you can do now except wait and pray. Sorry!

Yeah, well, I just assumed that since I was mailing the package to the USCIS, that they would want the check made out to them. pretty simple common sense, I would think.

Simple common sense too would tell you to read the instructions and they specifically instruct to make the check or money order payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and not to use just initials.

Lucky you if they accept the money (USCIS is usually prompt when it comes to processing payments), if they return your application, just do whatever they ask to avoid further delays.

Well, I was able to catch it at the post office before they mailed it out, luckily. I called USCIS and they informed me that they would have rejected the petition and sent it back to me wanting a corrected check. I'm happy I caught it, probably just saved a couple weeks.

Lesson learned for everyone. Read the instructions. Never assume anything with USCIS! Sticklers that they are.

Glad you caught it on time. I would have advised you to write your A# in the memo part but I read that you used money order. Sure helps to write your A# and "I-751" in the memo line for checks. Good luck.

Glad you caught it and got it corrected. Yes, there have been other VJers who did the same and had their packages rejected and returned. The return instructions were not particularly clear so it took them some time to figure out the reason for the rejection was because the cheque was incorrectly addressed even though the amount was correct. Good luck.
