HI, I`M A US CITIZEN AND I LIVE ABROAD WITH MY WIFE, I DID (DCF) FOR A CR1 VISA AT THE EMBASSY IN COLOMBIA.......AND YESTERDAY WE RECEIVED MY WIFE`S PASSPORT WITH HER VISA...I GUESS WE WERE LUCKY TO HAVE GOTTEN THE VISA IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS! FOR WHAT I UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE CR1 VISA, MY WIFE HAS 6 MONTHS TO GO TO THE STATES, BUT NOW MY QUESTION IS: CAN MY WIFE TRAVEL FIRST AND ME GO LATER, SINCE I`M IN COLLEGE AND I GRADUATE IN DECEMBER AND I `LL BE IMPOSIBLE FOR ME TO TRAVEL ANYTIME BEFORE DECEMBER...SO I TELL HER THAT SHE NEEDS TO GO BY HERSELF AND ONCE I`M DONE WITH SCHOOL I WILL MEET HER THERE......IS IT POSSIBLE , WILL SHE HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AT THE PORT OF ENTRY OR DO I HAVE TO BE WITH HER ON THAT DAY TO PREVENT ANY SETBACKS....HAS ANYONE GONE THROUGH THIS.....ANY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES????? I`LL APRECIATE ANY INPUT.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!! PHILIPE

I'm quite sure that the beneficiary cannot travel first to the US, it must be with, or after the petitioner returns

Unfortunately, your plan will not work. as the PP said, the beneficiary needs to immigrate to the USA at the same time or after the USC is already in the US. What you may be able to do is fly to the US with her for the summer, and then return to Colombia for the fall semester to complete your studies.

I'd be curious as to where this is stipulated

YMMV

It certainly was spelled out to us in at least one of the documents we received from London when we filed, and we were also told that on the day of the interview, if I recall.
