Hello guys, we got NOA2 about 10days ago, my fiance in the US received two letters saying that they will send me some papers I should follow the instructions etc... yesterday I received a letter from the US CONSULATE OF MONTREAL saying:

*PLEASE FURNISH THIS OFFICE WITH PROOF OF YOUR CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP OR YOUR LEGAL IMMIGRATION STATUS IN CANADA .

since Im foreign student my legal papers are : visa , study permit and CAQ ( acceptation of Quebec) so I was wondering should I give them my passport and original papers or copies ? I went to the consulate to ask, the security guy who was totally arrogant told me that yes I should drop my passport with original papers, then he asked me if I have an interview I said no I didn't get an appointment for the interview yet ...

Now I'm confused should drop my passport and all the original papers or should I take an interview appointment first ? if yes how do I do that ?

pls what are the steps that I should follow I'm totally confused...

thanks

after you get your NOA2, USCIS will forward your petition to the National VISA Center (NVC) NVC will then forward your petition to the Consulate in Canada, Consulate will then send you the information about interview.

so now I should wait for the other informations from the consulate? cause the letter I ve received does not say anything about the interview ...

like i said before, call the Consulate...

Which is great advice....except you cannot call the Montreal consulate.

They will contact you about your interview - however they are probably not going to schedule you without proof of your legal residence in Canada.

Send them photocopies of your documentation (ie: photocopies of your proof of legal residence).
