I just read that you wrote your next to last exam! In a couple of weeks you'll be finished your testing and on your way to Alaska on a cruise. How exciting!

I don't know if it's because you're from my home province, or your having responded to Gene's PM's the first few days he set up an account here three years ago...Gene told me, "there is this cool guy that I think is from Saskatchewan even though he has a Calgary Flames avatar...", or maybe it's just because of your one liners that oft times has me laughing my fool head off. No...I think it's that I've known you on the boards here for three years, and you're always welcoming, good natured, and so helpful, and you always make me laugh.

So, today I celebrate your great achievement... of going back to school and entering a new career path! You plugged away, worked hard, while not forgetting us here, and I think you're going to make an amazing nurse!

I'm so proud of you! :luv:

Thanks Carla. My humor is a tad different,lol You should see my nursing notes that I hand (email) out to others,lol You either enjoy my sense of humor, or you don't,lol can't wait to be done with school, but on the other hand, that means I have to get a job,lol! And new RN jobs are not a plenty right now in the DC area, it is pretty tight thanks to the crummy economy, oh well, not that big of a deal! Thanks

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I agree - you have done well Flames, I hope you are very proud of your accomplishment!

I know you have worked hard and yet, like Carla mentioned, you are always here for everyone - even if it's just to share a laugh - I certainly do appreciate you.

And just remember when you head up to visit the homeland in May:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. Never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in your replies

3) Keep your response short and to the point, don't tell your life story!

4) Look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lying and have been trained to find them

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you.

6) Bring proof of ties to Canada (letter from employer showing when you are expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get you anywhere, and could make things worse!!

well (unfortunately,lol) am a USA citizen, so I can lie now, and they can't just kick me out, spend time in jail/fine, sure, but can't kick me out,lol. thanks all

Awesome!! Congrats Flames! Don't you just hate writing exams? I wrote my last one for my BA on Monday! The feeling when you're finished is so amazing. To celebrate I slept in really late :lol: But yeah... an Alaska cruise would work too....

Private nursing jobs should be available. Like in-home stuff, if there's no hospital jobs. A girl I know here got a job doing in-home stuff with an agency when she got out of school.
