I agree with Len. Just explain to your boss what you told us, and preface it all with "I'm sure you can appreciate how difficult it is to be in a long distance reltionship, so although ordinarily you'd love to attend a team building function, that you and Pedro have so little time together that you'd rather not spend personal time engaging in business actvities". If you don't feel comfortable talking about it, send him an email, becasue that also gives you the benefit of having a trail of communication, so if he gives you a hard time about not attending, you can take up the issue with HR.

Lying or calling off sick would be the worst things to do.

Yeah, that is how I will deal with it. I will just ask him. If he says no, I will just go and try to make the best out of it. Semi hump Pedro on the dining table and make out all the time, tongue in ear action etc. :jest: Kidding.

As for getting an extra day off in exchange for spending a Saturday with work - the options are minimal. We get paid a very decent amount of money for what we do and that covers all extra time. I just have to think about the corny stuff I read on VJ so often like "don't be so bitter about being apart, you will spend the rest of you lives together...".

I have a bit of a conflict at work and I am not sure how deal with it.

My boss decided to have an off-site take place for the team and their partners. This will start at 5pm with a wine tasting and a dinner at a vineyard, then we spend the night there and the next morning, the team members will have a 5 hour long brain storming while the partners go and have a group activity. At lunch time, we all get together again, go hiking for a few hours and then have a late lunch together.

Ideas?

enjoy the evening. after dinner wear him out so the next day all he wants to do is recover by the pool. then after lunch wear him out again.

just imagine .. you'll get to have fun at the company's expense.

El Presidente of VJ

regalame una sonrisita con sabor a viento

tu eres mi vitamina del pecho mi fibra

tu eres todo lo que me equilibra,

un balance, lo que me conplementa

un masajito con sabor a menta,

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
