You'll (unfortunately) need to wait until you get your PR/Green Card (possibly the EAD) in order to obtain a DL. Although you are a K-1 entrant, you're not (no longer) a K1 holder (since you used the K1 to enter and it is no longer valid).

Many states (including Indiana) require valid status in order to issue a DL - being 'pending' doesn't count.

Same old, same old.

I'm in Texas and I was able to get my DL only after receiving my GC. I did try to get it before, with no success. I'd suggest you wait and be patient.

Sorry. :clock:

Oh geez I am really glad to know this! I am from Indiana, and my fiance will be coming here.

When he was here before, he was able to drive on his UK license....how long can you do that for?

Not Illinois!!! I nailed my 5 year IL driving license a couple of days ago (see DL thread on this forum). OP, may I make a suggestion? Find a DMV office in the dumbest, hickest, bumpkin town you can (like Sparta, IL  ) and it'll be a breeze!!!

OP, not sure where you are, but I found East Chicago DMV to be very immigrant friendly and knowledgeable.
