You know - when my ship went across the equator - we did a lot of stuff that could be considered toture...

crawling through the garbage chute, no sleep for 24 hours, sitting on the bow, 2 am in the morning, getting sprayed by ice cold salt water for hours, getting spanked by lengths of fire hose by shellbacks, getting your face shoved into a fat babies bellybutton.

ahhh the wonders of a polywog, the wonders of the being a shellback.

most people are quick to jump on the torture bandwagon, when what they are complaining about may well be part of a frat party hazing.

I doubt if any of the detainees volunteered to be tortured.

Probably most of them volunteered to cause "Death to America"...

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Ya never know.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Shepherd Smith is the only guy I really liked working for Fox, is hour long news problems was mostly facts and no opinions or speculations. Wonder why he is working for Fox?

Feel this thread should deal more with his reaction to his co-workers and gives me even more respect for the man. That no-spin jerk really spins my head as well of the rest of them. Not news, not fair and balanced, but brainwashing with that network.

I like Shepherd Smith too. Probably because his show is just to tell the news and not really give opinions. But he has some well timed sarcasm sometimes that I like.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

I think most of the folks here whinin about all this so called torture were tormented on the play ground in elementary school.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Bottom line is simple, do you want to be a member of a society that inflicts torture on potentially innocent people? I am sure some people are quite happy about that, until of course it happens to a US citizen going about their business abroad. There are thousands of American's living and working abroad and sometimes 'bad' things happen to them - there is a journalist in Iran locked up for eight years for 'spying' (A journalist). What outlook these people if torture of suspects is acceptable and routine?

Anyone remember the British Pensioner who was locked up in a Turkish jail because a USC (wanted for a massive finance fraud) had stolen his identity some years before?

Guy was in there for 2 weeks before the FBI finally showed up and discovered he wasn't their man.

I don't remember that at all. Can't have been very amusing for the suspect though. Turkish goal isn't a picnic.

I forget the guy's name - it happened in '05 or '06, I think.

The guy was with his wife on their first overseas vacation in 30+ years - and they get pinched by the authorities because his name matched an alias used by someone wanted by Interpol (and who the FBI actually apprehended in the US a few days later).
