This is a discussion forum. We discuss stuff. I for one think it's cool and that's why I find it hard to stay away.

I think "backward" was an unfortunate choice of word. If this woman's culture considers her "used goods" and she has the potential to become a rape/murder victim because of it, this is not backward, it is purely cultural.

Yeah I don't think those 2 things in itself make something backwards...and in their opinion, those who wipe with TP are gross and are not cleaning their butts good enough. So they think we who only use TP are gross too! It goes both ways.

No chit, when D was here we went to get him a haircut. So we were shopping & saw a supercuts, and we figured no time like the present. So in we went & while we were waiting, I look at the guy getting his hair done and he was rockin a mullet!!!

Back On Topic: I do find repressive societies, maybe not "backwards" per se, but certainly not as appealing as a place where I can do what I want, when I want without worrying about someone killing me for my honor, being raped for being "used goods" or being stoned to death for daring to have sex without being married first.

I know! It's shocking. Imagine how insanely happy I was to find out that you CAN have sex without being married.

Not too many people around my neighborhood know about that, actually. Most rush in to get married becuase they can't stand keeping in their pants that long.
