Now I’m the one freaking out and asking the same questions that have been answered over and over… I spent my afternoon reading the website and I just want confirmation from you that everything is ok…

Here is what we have for the interview (which we’ll both go to):

- Interview letter

- Passport + 2 copies

- Birth Certificate + English translation

- Photos x 2

- French Police Certificate + English translation + copy of each

- Canadian Police report + copy

- Medical sealed envelope

- Updated letter of intent from US fiance

- I-134 Affidavit of Support US fiance with:

W2 2008, 2007, 2006

Tax Transcripts 2008, 2007, 2006

Letter bank

- I-134 Affidavit of Support co-sponsor with:

W2 2008, 2007, 2006

Tax Transcripts 2008, 2007, 2006

Letter bank

Letter employer

Paystubs (5 last)

- DS-160 (2 copies of appl. and confirmation pages)

- DS-156 (2 copies)

- DS-156K (2 copies unsigned)

- NOA2

- Xpresspost envelope

- 131 USD

My fiance is back to school so we need a co-sponsor but used to work for the past 5 years so he also has his tax receipts.

Here are some documents that we are thinking on bringing as well (just in case)

- Letter employment from me (since I am in Canada under a work visa, maybe they would like to check my legal status here as well and have proof that I’m still working there)

- US Citizen birth certificate

- DS 230 Part 2

- Copies of original filing of I-129F

- X-Ray

- Pictures since NOA1

- Flight tickets

- Phone bills

- Immunization records

- Engagement ring receipt

Questions:

Do the I-134s and updated letter of intent from him need to be notarized?

Does anything actually need to be notarized for the interview?

Thanks for your help again!!

For my interview in Vancouver, I used the new Affidavit of Support form that does not need to be notarized and they accepted it.

You do not need your fiance's birth certificate, this is about you. All they require from the US citizen is the Affidavit of Support and the past three years of tax forms. I also gave them a signed Letter of Intent from both of us. Otherwise just give them the forms they request on your check list.

The only supporting evidence I brought with me was a bunch of photographs, which I just printed on paper on a color photo copier, copies of phone records and the receipts from all my airline tickets going to visit my fiance in Seattle. When the lady at the Embassy asked for the evidence she barely glanced at my pictures and airline tickets.

I did not have to bring the x-ray with me, just the sealed results from the medical exam.

Good luck with your interview!

Looks good! I would bring the copy of the I-129F petition incase there are any problems, and I would also bring the flight tickets, phone bills and pictures for if they want to see additional evidence. I don't think you need the engagement ring receipt... the best evidence would be having it on her left hand

For the passport, we only need a copy of the biographical page right? That's what I assumed... Anyone have their interview in Montreal and need a copy of the whole thing?

YOU GOT AN INTERVIEW DATE!!!!! I must have missed that!!!! Congrats!!!!

You look good!

Only thing, depending on which I134 you have, the old one needs to be notarized, new one does not. You will know it's the old one, if it has a section for notary (mine was)

Other than that, good luck!!!!

Bringing X-Ray and additional proof for me was a waste of time! When I get into the interview, I didn't even pull out my file.

Good Luck!!!!

This confuses me .. why tax forms ? I mean is it only for self employed people or do they require this for everyone ?

We only have a letter from her bank stating savings amount and such and also a letter from employer stating her salary and time she has been working there. would that be enough ?

Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.

For the i-134s, we are using the new ones.

Do you know if the letter of intent needs to be notarized?

The Letters of Intent do not need to be notorized.

When I submitted my Affidavit of Support form, the guy who took them was looking to see that I had the last three years of taxes from my Fiance there. He is not self employed. I did not have a letter from his bank, only brought his current bank statement, letter from his employer and last three years of taxes he filed. Which I guess would be the "Tax Transcripts" as you listed, I just called them forms.

where can i find that ds230 part 2? is that really needed? we submitted the part 1 with the packet 3 right?

do we really need to provide the last 3 yrs of tax transcripts and w2?

Congrats on the interview date!

The letter of intent does not need to be notarized, nor does the new I-134.

You do not need to bring the DS 230 part 2, US citizen birth certificate or X-Ray. I brought a copy of I-129F package, recent flight stubs, phone bills, and pictures but they did not ask to see any of them.

It doesn't sound like either you or your fiance are divorced, but if so be sure to bring a certified copy, and photocopy, of the divorce decree. This is the one document of mine they scrutinized (they read the entire thing while I was standing there, the other forms and certificates they just glanced at and filed).

You don't need to write a letter of intent for yourself. You just need one from your fiance.

No need to waste your time!

Good Luck!

Oh great thanks SapphireDreams!

For his letter, "modified" means changing the date is enough or they want a totally different one?

We modified the wording slightly to say something along the lines of 'continuing to intend to marry' and then a revised date. Either is probably just fine!
