We want to get a prepaid simcard for my iPhone so I could call husbie when I am already at the airport..

I am going to use it for the meantime..

My husband is using VERIZON and we will get a family plan soon.. Are they compatible to iPhone or only AT&T would do?

How does it works? Can he activate the roaming ON before sending it to me then I would just switch the roaming OFF when I get there?

Is getting a prepaid sim practical if I would just use it for a week???

Thanks..

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

does your phone not work in another country without changing the sim? if you just want to be able to call him and tell him you've arrived and you're ok I wouldn't worry about getting a new sim if the one you have will work.

I could use my phone if I would just switch the roaming on without changing the sim... I guess I would just do that instead..

Husbie just told me that he is planning to buy a prepaid sim for me but he is unsure about Verizon or AT&T. Thanks.. :)

Verizon doesnt use sim card phones, they dont even use sim technology. They may offer some phone models with sim card slots but my guess is they are for international roaming. Looking at roaming charges for verizon in the phils, god over $2 a minute. Why dont you just use globe or smart and text him? It would be easier and cheaper. Sell your I-phone there as it's no good on the verizon network. Your other choices (carriers) are limited with the iphone also. Heck you can get a cricket phone once your here and for $5 a month you can send unlimited text back home, the best part is cricket is unlimited local and long distance to the US,Canada,UK and some other coutries. Another choice here is Boost mobile, they use the Nextel network and for 50 a month you get unlimited everything, txt, pic, internet and talk. Back to your original topic, verizon wont work for what you are wanting to do. Att is a bloated company that is raping customers left and right and they may soon be facing a class action lawsuit along with apple over the iphone/3g so choose them at your own risk.

If the phone is unlocked any sim card will work.

Verizon uses CDMA technology which is obviously not compatible with GSM which the iPhone uses.

AT&T and T-Mobile for USA... all others do NOT Work... I used SUN on my iphone when I was in Philippines.

Buy the 10 dollar at&t phone at walmart, activate the sim.. use the sim on iphone.. return the phone.

OR go online, and can buy sim only from tmobile for like 9.99... quite frankly both suck, prepaid sucks.. I know cause im on prepaid.. but I just buy $4.99 card every month cause I dont call execpt if id be in emergency.

The provider in Philippines most probably is GSM - use either AT&T or T-mobile in US - just buy the prepaid SIM card.

SIM cards for Verizon are supplied by Vodafone for international roaming. But other than that Verizon doesn't use SIM cards.
