I thought the moon was made of green cheese? They can't even cover up the President getting a bj or the Watergate tapes, let alone UFO's for 60 years.

When the men in black come and tell you to keep quiet or else it is a great motivator to keep quiet.

Sorry, I don't buy it.

Look at it this way, the astronauts from the 60's were the most studied group of men on the planet. They were given every mental and physical test they could dream up. It is possible that one or two of them may have gone mental but the list of astronauts that have gone public is a who's who of the elite. Do you really think that all of them have gone space happy? Not likely.

No, I just don't believe the quotes attributed to them. Where are the sources for this info?

Try this one.

Uhm - that show quoted Buzz out of context - the object was a shroud panel that protected the LM on the upper stage of the rocket.

Objects going into trans-lunar orbit trajectories tend to stay on that heading (newton laws and all).

here is an excellent write-up of it.

Just as information can be suppressed, it can also be purposefully "leaked". Consider, if an agency has the power to enforce a gag order, then they can certainly instruct credible people to make contradictory statements otherwise.

Is this a whitewash to explain why humanity can't make another moon landing, 40 years after the alleged first, despite technology growing at a phenomenal pace? Did the moon landings ever actually happen?

Conspiracy theories abound, finding the truth is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Information can be made to disappear and it can be manufactured, neither is specifically credible or accurate and there's myriad reasons for any government to suppress/advertise in equal measure.

To that end, I believe what *I* see and can touch, not secondhand accounts and disinformation whose source I can't verify and credit. :) I'm sure there ARE viable lifeforms out there in the universe, almost certainly at an equal or greater intellectual level than us ... but I want physical evidence, not anecdotal recounts by "credible" sources whose evidence and opinions have potentially been "bought" previously.

If there are so many implanted devices in our fellow humans, why have no hospitals come forward with the discovery, as millions of "unknown" people are admitted to hospitals and undergo treatment in medical clinics. Surely, evidence from "multimillions" of abductees would have been very hard to suppress - especially in third world nations.

A cynic might suggest this is a preamble into "save the planet" territory, by threatening us with a more advanced power that is policing the universe. But, I'm not that cynical - yet!

This always fascinates me. Why is everyone so certain of that?

To me, if the understood randomness of the physical world is assumed to be true, then any other life form in another planet can go either way. There's neither a higher nor lower chance of them being either less or more intelligent than us.

JMHO of course.

That's pretty credible testimony.

With no evidence - I hope they don't do that in a court of law....

I don't know, you put the stress these people go through on their missions, the eyes interpret things in a weird way. Everyone has seen shadows or thought they seen lights moving or something if it's night, they're tired, stressed, etc. An UFO is just that, something they can't pinpoint and verify as an identifiable object, it doesn't necessarily mean alien aircraft. I believe there's something out there, I am not sure it's visited us or that these people have seen them.

I need proof that I can verify myself in order to believe it, not just accounts of people who seem credible. It's all very interesting though.

Ok, I will give you that one. I just looked at an interview where Buzz said it was probably one of the panels.

Oh - I don't think most people that speculate are "certain" of it - they are just looking at the actual age of the universe, and compared to our timeline on this planet, things could have been cooking out there for billions of years before us, hence, with that being greater than ourselves.

Or - we could be it.

doubtfull (imho)

Just think in 4 billion years or so, our sun will grow to a red giant, destroying the earth - hope were gone off to somewhere else by then :)

This always fascinates me. Why is everyone so certain of that?

Because the universe is made up of many stars similar to our sun. Each of those stars has orbitting masses - some of which are comparable to earth in composition and ecological terms. Carbon units (humans, vertebrates etc) require water for survival. We know that if there are other life forms that are similar to earth's residents certain conditions must be present. We've already discovered potential for life forms within our own solar system, so it's pretty much a certainty that it exists when the scale is much larger.

In scientific terms, if life on earth is random because of the conditions then it is likely that equal conditions exist elsewhere in the universe and so the potential for equivalency exists.

If God created the universe, why would he limit it to populating just one tiny planet? Even humans create on a larger scale than that (as evidence by our desire to expand OFF our little planet), and God is supposedly much more developed and creative than us.

There, I've tried to please both the creationists and the evolutionists. :P

And Edgar Mitchell (hero of the Apollo program to be sure) believes in ESP, remote healing, and wants a one world parliament. Plus, as with majority of most UFO believers, he has no evidence other than what he says.

Don't get me wrong, I would be first in line to meet somebody from another planet and would be on the first trip out if I could.

I just don't see it happening in my lifetime.

Why not? If they are real what difference would it make to contact us now or later? I once heard a saying, not sure where. When asked if he thought there was other life out there the reply was, "considering the size of the universe, if we were alone it would be an awful waste of space." I think the universe is just to big for us to be alone. The universe is tens of billions of years old and we have reached awareness only in the last few thousand years. That leaves a lot of time for something else to evolve into a being orders of magnitude more advanced than us. Also consider that we are just now becoming able to seek out other planets that could be able to support life. I am sure that in billions of years we will be able to find and visit the planets we find. Considering the time scales of the age of the universe I am sure that others have already done that and know we are here.

Simply because of the very size of the universe. If they have FTL - they are pretty advanced, and I would think they would have rules of contacting "lower" lifeforms such as we are right now.

We might communicate somehow, but just think, if there was intelligent life within 100 light years, that was at or above our tech level, it would take 100 years or more for a signal to travel one way. Then they/we would have to decrypt it, and send an answer, another 100+ years to receive it.

We have had radio for what, 100 years or so? TV signals of any power, 75 or so? One of our fastest spaceships (voyager) is only 89 au from the Sun. It launched in 1972. It's barely in "open space" from our own system. (Au is distance from the earth to the sun)

So - well pass my lifetime. (unless we make cyborg bodies :))

One physicist was asked if thought "alien" life might find earth. He said "I hope not", because he said look at our own history when a technically superior group of people encountered tech(less) people (think when Europe came to South America way back when).

Predators are usually the smart ones to rise up, (has to do with that binocular vision), and they excel - we might end up as someone's soup ingredient (:))

"To Serve Man..."

Again, I hope we make some sort of contact before I die. Would be fun !

Remember that Einstein said that we couldn't go AT the speed of light but going faster is allowed. I am sure that we will eventually find a way to circumvent that roadblock. There is a multitude of theories as to how to do that. Wormholes, interdimensiononal travel, spacetime warping and many other ways have been postulated. The point is this, I doubt if a really advanced race would be limited to light speed travel. Given the age of the universe the chances are very high that there are many such civilizations out there. Also, given that we are now becoming able to find earth-like planets out there it only stands to reason that our blue water planet has already been found by others. I really do believe that we have been visited. It may be that they are keeping a low profile out of some non-interference directive. But sooner or later the cat will be out of the bag. I think it will be sooner rather than later.

I dont think they will ever be happy with talk of Aliens. They won't acknowledge evolution, even scientifically proven micro evolution, so good luck.
