What is the best attire to wear for a grocery/department store interview?

hi... i used to work in a department store... and just a smart looking *but comfortable* outfit is best:

comfortable slacks & blouse (no blazers... too stuffy)

comfortable skirt & blouse

especially with comfortable dress shoes for work *assuming that you will be walking the floor & helping customers*

Always dress 'above' the position you are applying for. A person that takes pride in their appearance, takes pride in their work And if your comfy shoes are dressy enough wear them, if they aren't stick to your uncomfy dressy shoes.

I wouldn't wear a suit if you were applying for a clerk position at a grocery store, but I would if you were applying for a sales position in a swish dept store....

grocery store I'd wear nice slacks, button up shirt and comfy shoes, department store I'd wear nice skirt, comfy shoes and blouse. If they sell clothes, I'd wear something from their own store.
