I'd appreciate if someone can help with Ahmedabad's passport office to obtain PCC.

We have completed local pcc from anand's police station, signed by local tax collector, and signed by Gandhinagar office. It seems that ahmedabad's passport office is saying that they require a letter from NVC that PCC document is missing and they need it. Without this missing document for PCC the ahmedabad's passport office will not give the PCC.

Do you ask NVC to send a letter stating that passport PCC was required or do you send the DS-230 application without the PCC and RFE was generated asking you to provide PCC? I just want to speed up this process so any help you can provide is appreciated.

Anyone going through ahmedabad's pcc process currently?

Sara,

Thanks for the response. I've read ALL the threads for Ahmedabad's PCC and they don't reflect the current process. It seems that this passport office changes their mind all the time. Before they only wanted to see the DS-230 cover letter with I-130 approval, but now they want a letter from NVC on missing document that PCC from passport office is missing or required. This is why I created a new thread just in case someone is going through my similar situation and has some input into this.

Appreciate anyone's response in advance.

All I can suggest is to print out this page: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html# And show it to them.

Moving to regional forum.

I personally did not have to deal with Ahmadabad this time. Here is a suggestion. Call NVC and tell your situation, I think they're aware of this issue with Ashkhabad's office and PCC. More than likely they'll say it's ok to submit the one PCC you've and you can bring the PCC from Ahmadabad at interview time. This is what I roughly remember from all the threads I've read about PCC. I could be wrong because I had not have to deal with them. Try to post this in the South Asia forum too, I am sure you'll get some responses there.

OH, it's already moved to South Asia forum.. You should get some response here..

Hie,

Yes i had to go through this pain... but what i'll suggest is send the DS-230 to the nvc with the Original Birth Cirti, Marraige Cirti, and the local police clearence. and this should be enough. as nvc has changed some rules and as per nvc if u r not able to get the PCC from the passport office without the interview call letter then u can crry the PCC from passport office at the time of ur interview... Read the line in bold...

India- Passport Office Police Certificate:All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and over, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from thelocal Passport Office. These are usually more dependable than those obtained at a local level andindicate that the subject had no serious criminal convictions on the record at the time of passportissuance. Applicants whose Indian passport was issued within the past six months may present just thePassport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances. If you are unableto obtain the Passport Office Police Certificate without an official request you will need to apply once receiving your Interview letter from the National Visa Center and bring the document at the time of your visa interview

And once you receive the interview call letter go the the passport office and get the pcc done.. they will ask for 2 passport size photo, copy of the passport, and the original pcc from anand's police station. So please keep a colour copy of the pcc from anand's police station. and get a photograph stick'd on it and get it stamped from the anand's police station. As u would have aleady subbmited the same to the NVC. u can subbmit this new stamped copy which will be considered as original. i did the same.

So dont worry and go ahead and send the DS-230 with the documents u already have.. this should save ur time...

Vishal,

Thanks for your input....much appreciated. I'll just go ahead and send the DS-230 without the ahmedabad's passport office PCC and hopefully they'll approve it. Do I have to attach a letter that I was not able to obtain the passport PCC since they requested a letter confirming the PCC or will they just assume that this was the reason? Also, instead of original birth certificate and marriage certificate, I'm assuming that certified will be okay?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you need to attach a note stating that you wont be able to get PCC till u subbmit the interview call letter so you will obtain the same once ypu receive your interview call letter and subbmit it at the time of interview...

and certified copy is ok but that has to be cirtifief by the issuing authority. and not the notrized copy.. if possible send the original copy to make sure u dont have to face RFE. and its safe to send the original cirtificate to nvc...

All the very best...

Hi,

I just called NVC customer service and found out that Bomaby applicant don't require to submit PCC from passport office with DS-230. They need to show it only during interview time at Bombay. As long as we submit local police certificate, it should be fine...Here people do care for others that's why NVC has specifically changed rule for us whereas Illiterate people at Ahmedabad passport office will never improve..

Hey, I understand one local PCC can be submitted to NVC at this tiem, and passsport PCC can be obtained at time of interview.

But passport office requires original local PCC, can we submit certified true copy to NVC of it?

Can we make the copy of PCC and get it certified true copy and send it to NVC? WIll they approve it?

Thanks
