too many parents these days believe they can be friends with their teenage kids, u cant, and if ur kids like u all the time, then ur not doing ur job as the parent

sara

I wholeheartedly agree, and we have argued about this a lot. The mom is too busy trying to be the teen's best buddy. Her argument is that most teens don't want to be anywhere near there parents, but this teen loves hanging with her mother, and her mother thinks that's great. Whatever...

What kind of birth control? I always find it funny when you give a teen pills because half the time they can't even remember to do their homework or clean their room let alone take a pill at the exact same time every day.

The pill, I think. And yep, spot on with that analysis!!

So you all say "NOT UNDER MY ROOF" Do you think by them not doing IT under your roof it is going to stop? I think not.

No, I don't think it will stop, but if you read my original post you'll see I don't expect them to stop. They can do each other 'till they're blue in the face as far as I'm concerned, just as long as they do it somewhere else.

Ah damn, I guess I won't understand, I was raised by pot smoking hippie parents.

So you would rather have her have sex in the backseat of a car or in a shady motel than the safety of your house?

If she was 14, I would understand, but at 17 it's something normal. I do understand that you feel uncomfortable with it, don't get me wrong. I am sure she feels the same way when you and your fiance have sex.

Again, Hippie parents. Sorry. :(

Totally inappropriate behavior and unacceptable in my book. And mom is supposed to be MOM and not best buddy. Mom should be guiding her daughter and enforcing rules, not trying to be her buddy. Not that moms and daughters can't be friends, of course, because my daughter and I have a great relationship, but I'm still the MOM! :-P

Ah damn, I guess I won't understand, I was raised by pot smoking hippie parents.

Funnily enough, 'er indoors enjoyed her weed, until she was busted at a work whizz-quiz!

So you would rather have her have sex in the backseat of a car or in a shady motel than the safety of your house?

But to me that's normal, teenage deviance - so frankly, yes!!!

If she was 14, I would understand, but at 17 it's something normal. I do understand that you feel uncomfortable with it, don't get me wrong. I am sure she feels the same way when you and your fiance have sex.

Hey, don't get me wrong: I have NO issue with the fact that she's having sex at 17. In fact, in a strange sort of a way it's quite reassuring, because as you quite rightly state, it's normal. I just want them to #### off and do it elsewhere!!!!!!!!!

Again, Hippie parents. Sorry. :(

I take it a lot of people here didn't have sex when they were in High School? That's a lot of pent up frustration.

You're missing the point. I had plenty of high school sex - just not at my parents' home (not when they were in, anyway ;) ) To me, it's a simple respect issue.

If their mother allows it, and since she basically gave the "ok" with the birth control, (which is good - being proactive about it), then you should just let it go.

Of course, I would have a sitdown talk with them, and the boyfriend, express your feelings about it, and go from there.

What is the age of consent where you live? That could open a can of worms...

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

i don't think you are being a prude or old-fashioned.

sounds like an uncomfortable situation, but maybe something you should approach your wife about. it is something she has let go on for a time, and i can see how you would feel out of place trying to insert your values/opinions... but you are married now, and marriage is about compromise and respecting each other's beliefs and comfort-levels...

good luck (F)

I agree wholeheartedly re the birth control. By accepting the fact that her teenage daughter will have sex, the mother has been, as you say, proactive and discussed the issue at length with her daughter. I'm all for that.

I hear what you say about the age of consent, but quite frankly, it's a non-issue in my book. She's 17, he's 18, and it's fine to be having sex at that age in my book, irrespective of the law.

Ah - but look at all the issues people are having being labelled a "sex offender" for doing exactly that.

But I do agree with you, they should have more respect and not actually do it in the house with "thin" walls - I would be personally mortified if my parents were listening in on my love making...

Not that there is anything wrong with that...:whistle::innocent:
