Thats Glenn Beck.... he's about as unbiased as Sean Hannity, Olbermann or Matthews. They are commentators, not news anchors. I do agree that Fox News goes out of its way to perpetuate it's ideology through inuendo, but you can't use a Glenn Beck as an example of irresponsible journalism, because he is in fact, not a journalist.

Bingo! He's an entertainer, at best.

He's a propagandist and is inciting violent reactionaries.

If a violent reactionary right-wing "terrorist" group starts blowing up shopping malls, using Beck's slogans as mission statements - you can bet your life that Beck and Fox will distance themselves as far as they can from it and issue retractions.

Beck might be stoking populist nationalism in Fox' traditional conservative audience base - but again to blame that for "incitement to violence" is like blaming the makers of Doom for the Columbine Massacre.

That's not an accurate comparison. Beck is specifically talking about the President. We'll see how far he can go before the Secret Service step in.

What difference does that make though? Unless he is affiliating himself directly with some sort of secessionist movement or revolutionary group - its not exactly easy to characterise what he's doing as incitement.

You are just pissed because he is pushing all your buttons. The only thing he is inciting is a reaction from the left.

The people who wrote the article you posted earlier are accusing ANY news agency of political activism and demagoguery? Well, no one will ever accuse them of introspection or lacking hypocrisy.

News agencies have a First Amendment right to be biased. This includes alternet, media matters, z-mag and any other left-wing news agency. Asking Fox to apologize for supporting the tea parties is just plain idiotic.

Guano, I'm ultimately saddened that you dislike this part of the First Amendment to the US Constitution. I've always felt that freedom of speech crossed political boundaries, even when the left railed against freedom of religion. I guess you can just add it your dislike of the Second and Tenth Amendments, but I warn you that it really bolsters the claims that the US left are anti-American. Germane to this, it may startle you to learn, one can't naturalize in this nation without swearing to, "support, honor, and be loyal to the United States, its Constitution, and its laws."

Hmmm. That's only true if you're prepared to engage in the same kind of generalisations that the article makes about Fox News and the right.
