First of all I must say, I've used these forums a lot to help me out but now I'm stuck and I have to make a post. The package from the US Consulate General states that there are only 4 specially-appointed panel physicians. However, not only have I heard of people going elsewhere, I've even read of people going to see other doctors. So my question is this. Is it possible to see a physician not mentioned on the list of 4? If so, how do I get a hold of one closer to me. I'm told that the closest physician that might be able to do it is in Winnipeg. Please help me out. I'll check back as often as my schedule lets me. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure where you heard Winnipeg, but there is no certified medical examiner there. There is 4: one in Toronto, one in Vancouver, and two in Montreal. Personally, I have never heard of anyone being authorized to visit a doctor anywhere else. I know of cases where people have had to fly and make special trips in order to get their medical examinations done. What some people do, is wait until after they find out when there interview is and book the medical exam a couple days before the interview so no special trip is required.

You don't actually need to complete the medical before you send back the checklist, no. I believe it says "arrange for a medical" or "prepare for a medical." I had my medical done after I sent the checklist back. You don't necessarily need to physically have all the documents in your hands when you send it back, just make absolutely sure everything will be done before the interview. Are you going through Vancouver or Montreal? Vancouver has been very very quick with interviews lately, so be aware that you may have your interview scheduled within a couple weeks of sending back the checklist back. With Montreal you'll probably have about 2 months to wait.

I have to go through Montreal. This is going really fast, I was expecting to have my interview late this year. So, if I get my interview in a couple months after sending it, does that mean that if the interview goes well that I will get the Visa then?

Yep! Well not that day. Montreal requires you to bring an Xpresspost envelope to the interview with you, and they mail your passport with the visa inside, and a packet to present at the POE. Most people get it within a week! The Packet 3 from Montreal says it will take 4-6 months to get an interview, but I got mine in 10 weeks, and some others have received even quicker dates recently. Our interview is next week on the 29th :)

If you have more questions about Montreal there is a thread in the Canada regional forum for people waiting on interview dates: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=160083

US Embassy and Consulate General Discussion

You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

YMMV
