how often does someone could get an earlier visa appointment.

I just requested an earlier visa appointment for this reason: I would like to enroll my son before the opening of classes on Sept 5th. I do not like to see my son having a hard time catching up missed lessons and at the same adjusting to his new school. My schedule of appointment is on Sept. 22. Is this a valid reason for someone like me requesting for an earlier visa appointment?

Applied on a Waiver I-751:

  • Application sent ............................................08-20-2008
  • Application received by CSC............................. 08-21-2008
  • Checks cashed by CSC.....................................08-25-2008
  • NOA1 - 1 year extension..................................08-26-2008
  • Verification letter of inclusion (son) I-751.........08-27-2008
  • NOA2 - Biometrics appoinment.........................09-26-2008
  • Son received NOA1 and biometrics appointment..09-17-2008
  • Son's biometrics...............................................09-27-2008
  • Card production is ordered................................01-26-2009

All you can do is ask, but IMO that would not be a good enough reason to move up an appointment date...

We did that. In fact my US fiancée called her congressman to explain the situation. She was graduating and she told her congressman that she would like me to be there for the ceremony. The congressman sent a resquest to the embassy and I had my appointment a month earlier.

I know that can be kind of a hassle for some people to get their congressman involved but try. On the other hand, school in the USA is very very easy. Your will catch up with no problem. Especially if it's only a few weeks delay.

It happens, but rarely, and depends on the country and embassy. Cristina and I were able to move hers up about 3 weeks, but things slowed down at that embassy right after we got through.

It certainly can't hurt to ask.......................I have read about several people that were able to get an earlier appointment.

If they can't do it they won't-but if I were you-I would try
