Personally I think the solution to the piracy problem is not on the seas, but on the land and trying to support efforts to build a stable government in that country.

If any country deserved unilateral military intervention - it would be Somalia.

Yeah, Clinton pretty much blew that one.

No reason someone else can't try again. Of course Bush blew pretty much any chance of that getting us embroiled in the Middle East. Best we can hope for is some sort of international coalition - but I doubt anyone has the stomach (or money) for another war front given the atrocious economic situation.
