alright, so about a year from now i would have to file to remove the conditions with my wife, HOWEVER, there is a problem.........

We have no evidence of our marriage apart from our marriage certificate,my green card (which i got in December of 05) and thats it,....

We live with her parents, and i go to school full time, so we dont have joint phone accounts because its under her parents name, the car is under her parents name along with the insurance, credit cards we dont have/need at this time ( i need another one of them like i need a hole in the head lol)...

The *only* thing we have,....is a joint bank account, with my name and hers on it,...and thats it.

what can we do???....im a little stumped here, suggestions would be appreciated.

I assume that when you applied to the college you had to put down an emergency contact number that's probably on file somewhere ... maybe you can get something confirming that from the school.

Don't forget your three affidavits! Maybe you want more, even.

Photocopies of your driver licenses showing the same address?

hiya Brett!

Since you are in a non-mainland-traditional situation, you'll just have to make it up as you go along. My suggestion would be to sit down and think about all the places your lives cross with other people. The video store, Costco accounts, any clubs you belong to together, folks from your church. The emergency contact from school is a great idea! What other places have you been where you've gotten "official", either together on one paper, or both people using the same address? Documents don't have to be in both names to show that you live together--docs from both people individually at the same address carry weight as well.

You'll just have to think creatively, and use this next year to create some evidence that you're living together. Just don't have a baby for the sole reason of passing your I-751! :P

how about life insurance or other policies listing each other as beneficiaries? or making our your wills?

do either of you have health insurance, with the other as beneficiaries?

in your case, I'd definitely get lots of affadavits from a variety of sources, lots of pics of the two of you together, etc.

shucks darn... thats what we did  ... just kidding....

I just realized that the baby will be born around the time we have to file for the removal of conditions... so I am guessing that if we send a copy of the birth certificate with the application that will be pretty good proof, right?

Congrats on your news! Yes, I'd imagine that including the BC with both names on it would be a good piece of evidence that you have an ongoing relationship!

Just don't forget the tax returns....

thanks everyone once again, i think we're going to have to heavily rely on affidavits,...a baby would be nice of course, but unfortunately we arent financially good. we haven't been anywhere either since we got here, photos and affidavits, joint bank account, and i guess i can make a will to her.

The only inheritance she'll get in my will, will be a dime, cos thats about all i got financially. lol....i'll have to warn her not to spend it all at once lol.

How about a living will? You know, the one that tells what you want done with you if you're incapacitated? In some places they're called advance directives. Mine basically says "Whatever my husband says, goes. If he and my doctor disagree, my husband wins. If he and my parents disagree, my husband wins. If he wants something that does not appear in this document, he wins."

In any case, a living will would be a legal document that gives your wife certain rights to make medical decisions for you (and you for her, if she made one).

Perhaps a mock-up lease agreement with the inlaws that your living rent free couldn't hurt. Does she have a voters' card with the address on it; letters from your family outside the country addressed to you there; state tax returns too (even if showing zero income); who is paying your tuition? Do you get any sort of mail related to that at this address? Do you have driver's licenses that show the inlaws addresses?

im getting my drivers licence so that will help. My tuition falls under Fasfa, so i could get documents from there.

Yeah, unfortunately for us its a real struggle to get the "usual" documents for a more convenient approval such as phone bills, leases, credit cards and what-not.

We'll ask her parents to make some type of contract, seehow that turns out,...does that have to be on an affidavit???

thanks a ton for your replies everyone. =)
