Boston Hotel Killings

The police are saying this guy preyed on women off Craigslist. His fiancee is saying that is impossible because he could never do such things. Usually the police are pretty good at their investigations so...do you think you could ever not know that your significant other is killing people?

I mean, you might be shocked but do you think there would be at least SOME signs when someone is a murderer or do you think some psycopaths are just that good at fooling every one around them. I mean there have been big serial killers who were trusted members of communities for over 30 years before they were caught...but it just amazes me that not even their significant other noticed anything.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Reminds me of that case last summer in Austria maybe where the father had the daughter kindapped and living in the basement with several children he fathered, and lives upstairs with his wife, the daughter's mother. How do you not know that there are people living in your basement?

I think psychopaths are that good at hiding things, they are so manipulative that they can fool everyone around them, even their closest friends and family. If you're not with your significant other 24/7 then there are things that they can be doing that you don't have the slightest clue about. I mean we can sit here and say: "Oh I'd know the signs... I would be able to tell" but until you're in that situation, you just never know.

I tend to think I'd probably notice something, but the rational part of my brain would take over and explain it all away.. It couldn't be.. there's no way.. etc. etc. It's amazing how many times in my life I've had hunches, but have reasoned them away and when more info is available, I was right.. So perhaps the same might happen in this situation, but I dunno..

It must be said that a med student doesn't' have a lot of free time.. so who knows how much time these two love birds actually spent together.. He would have a good reason to be away a lot.

I agree, some people are masterful liars.

I also think that even if the person or people thought something was just not quite right - they would think - oh he/she must be stressed at work or he/she is worried about money or whatever - it would be pretty difficult to make the jump to - oh he/she must be murdering people.

It says he's a student. Perhaps she thought he was in class when he was really out killing people. I think its hard to believe that your loved one is involved in something tragic. I mean sorry to bring up the cliche, but look at Casey Anthony's parents. Are they naive? Are they stupid? Are they just doing what a lot of parents would do and stand by their daughter?

I imagine it's really hard to believe someone you love would be capable of murdering. Knowing you slept next to that person every night and felt protected by them. They can put all the facts in front of her as well, and she can still choose to just not believe it because she loves him so much. Ignorance is bliss.

I think it's because you can't think like they think (which is a good thing!)

It's like when someone does something and you go - why would they do that - or why would they act like that - and you can't get your head around their reasoning - because you can't think like they do.

Here is the guy

The killer is a psychopath, and they are so good at what they do, that anyone around them can be oblivious. Or the fianceee could be just delusional, but regardless, it is possible to not notice a thing, because some people are very manipulative and good at hiding the truth from everyone.

Exactly ---- those two were as sick as they come; yet they managed to look "normal". Both him and Karla. Hope they live miserable and painful lives.

OMG the Scott Peterson case was nuts.... I just don't understand, if you don't want to be with your wife anymore or be a father, get a DIVORCE!! That's what people do when they're unhappy, they don't go around killing their wives and babies.
