If the judges can't judge her answers, then who is being politically correct?

What does "gay marriage" have to do with a beauty contest? Why should it even be relevent? Judge her on the T&A and the talent. That is what a beauty contest is.

Miss USA doesn't have a talent portion, so they need to supplement with stupid question/answer session :)

Anywho, regardless of her being free to express her views on national tv, the question as already stated was about should all states allow it or not. She easily could have side stepped any of it by saying it's a states rights issue or something and let the voters decide. Also, when one of the most openly gay bloggers of all time asks you a gay rights question, you know the answer you are supposed to say. If you aren't comfortable with it then side step the question like several of the other girls did. She may have integrity but she sure is stupid.

Well...there goes the credibility of the Miss USA pageant. I remember when it used to mean something...

Hilton served as a judge for the Miss USA 2009 pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 19, 2009. During the Q&A portion of the contest, Hilton's question came to the Miss California representative, Carrie Prejean. Hilton asked:

“Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?”

Prejean responded:

“Well I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. You know what, in my country, in my family, I do believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offence to anybody out there. But that’s how I was raised and I believe that it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you.”

Hilton called the answer “the worst answer in pageant history”. Later on his blog, he remarked "She lost not because she doesn’t believe in gay marriage, she lost because she’s a dumb ######

agreed.

That - I don't agree to. She has her own principals, and she stood by them. Braver than most people I know.

I mean, would you compromise yourself to win a fracking beauty contest? She said what she believes in - to me, that isn't stupid.

She will probably get more offers of work now because of it then if she won the contest.

Then dont enter a freaking beauty pagent. EVERYONE knows you answer world peace. You drink the cool-aid or lose. There are much more condusive formats for expressing your point of view that don't make you look like a complete idiot. If she had just answered the question asked and not continued on with her personal views of gay marriage she could have been Miss USA and had a national platform for a year. Sometimes it's not about "bravery" but knowing when is the best time to speak your mind and when its best not to.

Um, they judge people based on fitness and intelligence by answering in depth questions in 3 sentences. If thats not credibility I dont know what is. Its for pretty girls who aren't smart enough to get real scholarships so they need to flaunt their body in 2 tiny pieces of cloth. Idiots

Just because hate and bigotry gets dressed as a political ideology ("conservatism") and gets used as a recruiting tool by a mainstream political party (the GOP) doesn't make it any more worthy of respect. It's still hate and it's still bigoted.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

When asked the same question guess who said this:

“I’m a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.”

And guess who said this:

“If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership… The word ‘marriage,’ I think, puts a lot of people off. You get the same equal rights that we do when we have a civil partnership. Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships.”

The first one is President Obama, the second one is Elton John.
