I agree with that. This schmuck Perez was being an #######. But I don't agree with the premise that this is an issue of political correctness, because it goes both ways - if the contestant should be allowed to be honest, the judge should be able to judge her answer. The criteria over how the judges rank these girls is irrelevant. As if a contest that judges beauty is politcally correct in of itself. The whole thing is a spectacle of NPC.

She was penalized for expressing a politically unacceptable viewpoint, which is the essense of PC.

Yes, but in the context of a contest for which she is judged by those answers. To take the position that the pageant shouldn't be allowed to ask politically charged questions or that they shouldn't be able to judge the answers is also being PC. Do you see what I mean?

so .. she was a victim of discrimination. her answer was not PC. Hope she sues and wins big.

Dude, they judge women on their "inner" and "outer" beauty. Of course she was discriminated against.

her beauty was based on her beliefs. Inner/outer had nothing to do with this...

Of course it does. How else are the judges going to decide who wins?

You can't blame the Right Wingers for making this into a political discussion...afterall, they were trying to vote into office a different beauty queen.

No that won't help. Its a politically incorrect competition - that attempts to judge a group of women based on blatantly subjective concepts of "beauty".

Its a sexist competition that objectifies women.

Quite how a serious political discussion can be generated by an upset in the result is what I find interesting. As I said - it says a lot of about the quality of mainstream political dialogs in this country.

I just realized something...the Right puts in high regard, beauty pageants, but considers higher education, elitism. What a world view to have.

The only reason this pageant thing is in the news is because there's a nationalist twist to the story - about how dastardly liberalism has hijacked an American tradition.
