Montreal Interview-Complete and Successful

Hey,

Thanks for the great advice received here on the site.

All was pretty standard.

Arrived at 7:30am.

I was first and only one up on the 19th floor for the first 10 minutes, then slowly the room began to fill.

I of course received the letter A.

The first lady I saw at teller #11 was great! Very nice and sweet seeming.

She took my medical, passport, appointment letter, and big Expresspost envelope.

All my other documents were in order, so I did not need to give her anything else.

I sat and waited.

Then was called up to do my fingerprints.

Sat and waited more.

Was called into a small room with a glassed in teller station. The woman behind the glass was also professional and friendly.

She made me swear an oath with my right hand up.

She asked how I met my husband (traveling abroad was my answer).

We travel a lot together, so she asked what our favorite country was.

She asked for my husbands latest 2008 tax form. I also made a point to give her a LETTER OF EMPLOYMENT, suggested by some people on this board.

I am so glad I did, because my husband made below the income required last year due to us being out of the country traveling.

The year before he was a student and came very close to the limit. The letter of employment explained all this. It was written by his boss on official letter head.

If it had not been for that letter, I probably would have had to apply for a Joint Sponsor.

As an aside, she did ask me what was the longest i had every spent in the USA.

I told her 5 months, and openly admitted to her that border officials had recommended to me that I do not stay too long on my last trip there because I was visiting a bit too much. I did not want to stretch the truth on that question because I have no idea if any comments had been made about it on my passport.

However, I have never been denied and never stayed over 6 months at a time.

She essentially gave me a verbal slap on the wrist, but in her next breath approved me!

In the end, it all feels very anti-climatic.

I am VERY pleased with the results and went in there fairly worried about my husbands income requirements.

The letter of employment was key.

Also, I noticed more than one person with the wrong sized envelopes and listened to one guy being told it was not big enough.

So watch out for that. The Expresspost Envelope is the biggest size they have. It seems awkward and unlikely that it is the one they want, but it is.

What is a "tax form"? I have my fiance's 2008 tax return, and his 2008 tax transcript... Do you think they would want to see the entire return? I just don't want to give them a stack of 100 papers and have them look at me like i'm a crazy woman
