Jamies post had me wondering what the I-134 was all about:

When you look at the 1-134 sample

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;page=examples

look at questions 10 and 11// did you guys answer the question like that??

i dont see anything about submitting tax forms, yet most of you did..why? is it just to show supporting document?

how many years of taxes should i provide? Should I provide my taxes OR the tax transcript--whats the difference? Or should I provide both?

Bank : I read that they want to see something from the banks? Is it merely a simple letter from the bank, or should I try to get a print out of ALL my deposits and withdrawls over the 3 years-- thats gonna be long:)

is there a certain amount of money i should have in my bank account? i have three bank accounts--so should i get a letter from all of them right, or just from the bank with the most money in it?

So when i submit the I-134 i should include taxes, pay stubs, letter from banks, letter from employer, and is that basically it?

where can i find the poverty guidelines.. i have seen them before but i dont see them now. If I am making between 50k-68k, am i ok?

This is SUCH A GOOD WEB SITE!! I t deserves an award. My friend writes for a magazine, Im gonna have to get her to highlight this page because its wonderful. The website is phenomenal, but having this Ghana page is so HOT!! I love it.

Zee is so knwledgeable, without your help, Id be so clueless. Then we have the people who are in the thick of the process, like EZ and Jamie.. its so encouraging to see what we should and should not do. Today I learned that my 1-134 better be certified (even though its not a requirement).. OH GHANA!!! Its kind of like being in college and majoring in Chemistry, the older opeople tell you what classes you should and should not take--same thing here--the ones who have gone through the process tell us what we should and should not be doing.

Yes, that is how I answered Q10 & 11. You have to read the instructions for I-134 to see where is says to include taxes, etc. You can find it at this link: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-134instr.pdf

Bank : I read that they want to see something from the banks? Is it merely a simple letter from the bank, or should I try to get a print out of ALL my deposits and withdrawls over the 3 years-- thats gonna be long:)

They are interested in deposits over the last year. I logged on to my account online, added up all my deposits then drafted a letter. When I went to the bank, I explained what I wanted and showed them the draft. They made a few edits to the letter and I was done. I don't think you NEED to have this letter unless some of your income is not documented by your paystubs. For example, self-employed, free-lance, student recieving loans, living on interest etc.

is there a certain amount of money i should have in my bank account? i have three bank accounts--so should i get a letter from all of them right, or just from the bank with the most money in it?

There is no set amount of money that you have to have in your bank account. A letter from all 3 is not needed. As long as your paystubs added together over a year exceed the poverty guidelines you could probably skip Your pay stubs should

So when i submit the I-134 i should include taxes, pay stubs, letter from banks, letter from employer, and is that basically it?

Include your W2, that way they can't give you an RFE for it. Remember to keep copies for yourself.

I'm not sure if the 2009 guidelines are ready yet, but unless you have a very large family, you are fine

Just to add to what reeses said, for the I-134, they ask you to prove your income. Tax returns/transcripts are the easiest way to show it. And, people are specifically asked to provide these at the interview.

You provide either the tax return (with supporting W2s and other documents) or just the tax transcripts (available for free from the IRS). We provided 3 years worth, but they only looked at my latest tax info.

If you meet the poverty guidelines on income alone, you do not need to provide any other financial information. The only other things you should add are a letter from your employer and the last 6 months of paystubs. The bank statements are needed if you are using assets to make up the shortfall in income. They are only needed for the last year.

Ok, so then i wont get a letter from my bank. i just live by myself and im making between 50-60k. If anything, maybe ill get a letter from them stating that i have been a member for like 15 years, and in the past year i deposited X amount... or maybe i wont-- i dont want to make it too confusing.

ok, tax transcripts, tax returns, paystubs, letter from employer is what i will start collecting. thanks.

yeah on the instructions, it only says that you need your taxes if you are self employed.

if you are employed, they only ask for letter from employer and the bank statement.

But trust me, i have read in this site too many times how one thing is required but then someone is RFE for not having something that was not required.

So yes, i will provide everything you said.

That term " duplicate evidence" confuses me. does that mean I need to make copies of it, or does it mean that i need to have more than one source of proof ( so like employer is 1 and bank is 2).

I think it means duplicate sources to verify your income. In our case I had my tax transcripts, letter of employment and 6 months of paystubs.
