Hi All,

I am not quite sure if this is the right topic but I found this website with people having similar problems. i would really appreciate if you could help me or direct me to some other website/forum.

I have been working on a J-1 visa since 2005 and applied for a waiver in order to get h-1. I sent all the necessary documents to DOS. I've been checking the DOS online website tool.Tthere it says the favorable recommendation was sent on March 3rd but I never received anything! I called DOS 3 times, and in one of them an officer told me to fax&explain what had happened and request the favorable recommendation again. I did fax for 3 times ( the earliest was 4 weeks ago). But couldn't get any response. In the meantime I called USCIS to see if they could let me know about my case but the lady on the phone was not eager to help me since I don't have a case number. I am really worried about it.

Does anyone know how to proceed in this manner? Can USCIS find my case with my name & birthdate & case file number from DOS?

Please advise..

Perhaps they sent it directly to your employer. I checked my files for the one time I requested a waiver for an employee who was changing from J-1 to H1b, but that file was archived already so I couldn't access it.

Hi DI&JR

Thanks for your quick reply.

I am a research fellow in a university and I requested the waiver from DOS. By saying your employer, do you mean that they send it to our International Office?

If I call USCIS instantly, do you think that I can get an answer without a case file number? I am worried that USCIS did not receive the documentation since I didn't receive either. But I heard that they file electronically, is that true?

Thanks in advance..
