I know that all Consulate's are different. but I was wondering what the timeframe usually is between the Embassy receiving a packet 3 and scheduling the interview date.

When I was doing DCF last July I was told it was currently taking them (Sydney Consulate) up to 14 days to review documents and schedule interviews. This changes depending on how busy they are but I think it's usually between 2-3 weeks

Mine was a little quicker than that (see signature for timeline)

What is your visa category? I do not know other but for CR1/IR1, interview schedule by NVC. In my experience, US consulate send interview packet one month advance from interview date.

I Miss Her: DCF is different, the embassy does everything.

In the paperwork for Packet 3 here in Ireland, it said you'd be given a months notice of the interview. But as you can see by my timeline, it only took them a week and a half to send me the interview notice, and the interview was 6 days after that.

In India, it is mandatory to notify VFS (visa facilitation service) at least 15-days in advance (Kolkata region) from date of interview for document verifications including medical report (they do not open it neither requires to submit medical report here) and courier fee for visa/passport.

Yes, but since the NVC is involved it still has nothing to do with DCF!

To the OP: if you could update your profile to show which country you're filing in, we might be able to give you a better idea of the timeframe. Can you confirm you are doing DCF? I only ask this because you write

which makes me think that perhaps you filed through the US, in which case I Miss Her's comments about the NVC might be relevant after all.

Yes, but since the NVC is involved it still has nothing to do with DCF!
