My beneficiary received her interview notice late due to the mail. Her interview date was on February 28, 2009. She received the notice on March 29th 2009. Can she reschedule for another date. What are the procedures for this situation? Or what can be done about this.

Ouch - this is bad.

Contact the embassy immediately - they may consider it abandoned and ship it back to NVC.

They almost always say that rescheduling appointments will delay your case even longer.

Can you prove you received it late due to the mail?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Yikes, this is bad

Find out where the petition has been sent and call the embassy to see if you have any options

Request for reschedule your interview date ASAP. Do not worry, it simply delay your case.

Check the US embassy in your country for “U.S. Citizen Services” and contact them by all means (e-mail, fax, telephone and personal visit by beneficiary, if possible).

While contacting mention your NVC case#, petitioner and beneficiary name and date of birth and contact telephone#. Good luck

Hello you have to call the US Embassy in the beneficiary's country and explain to them what happened. I'm sure they would understand, as I believe cases like that would happen quite often. I rescheduled my own interview and I had no problems with mine. It was just fairly easy :)

If they need proof - can you show the date stamp onto the enveloppe? Maybe that would help...
