I changed mine to my husband's not because of tradition or anything, but because I had a really, really ugly last name. It would hurt my dad's feelings if I just changed it for no reason, but with marriage I knew he'd feel different about it :) He's such a traditionalist...

Not even "my people" could pronounce my maiden name correctly, let alone the people here when I moved to the U.S.

99% of the last names where I am from end in -ICH, but my husband's is short and sweet and does not end like all typical Bosnian names.

I liked it so I took it :)

But no one will be able to pronounce my new last name correctly either :)

I often joke with my husband that I married him just so I could get rid of my ugly name. He loves that, as you can imagine :lol:
