Why now? Obama promised 'change' and it turned out to be just a campaign slogan. Nothing more.

How many days has our new president been in office? How many years before that was someone else in office? How quickly do you expect change to occur?

The Right Wing Extremists don't care. Obama could be the most successful president we've had in a long time and they still wouldn't acknowledge it. They are so balls deep into their rigid, myopic ideology, that nothing will stop their delusional minds into believing whatever they want to believe. They are beyond hope.

Ha! So what is a "Right Wing Extremist"? Anyone that doesn't embrace the cult of Obama, worship his every utterance, or look at him with the same rose colored glasses as your fellow Obamatolagists?

Considering that Obama didn't win the election by anything close to a landslide even after 8 years of Bush ought to tell you something. Does it upset you that everyone hasn't bought into, submitted to, and fully embraced the Obama program 100%? And if they don't...they are "Right Wing Extremists". Ha!

You need a reality check.

Yea, so far the only "change" planned is the transfer of our money to the US Treasury to pay for the neighbor's mortgage that they could not afford to begin with. Obama did promise to transfer the wealth from the rich to the poor. I guess that is a change. Pocket change is all we will be left with.

Natty, you live in Houston don't you? Have you ever been to the Fiesta supermarket on South Main and Post Oak on the southwest side of town. The store sublets the mall entrance to small independent shops not affiliated with the store.

There is a shop there that is a total shrine to Obama. It has huge framed portraits of Obama in various godlike poses along with reams of other Obama memorabilia such as T-shirts, commemorative dinner plates, etc., etc. You gotta ask yourself...who buys this stuff? Who would festoon their abode and wardrobe as shrines to Obama? Apparently there are enough that do to keep this place in business. I find the concept kind of weird, creepy, and definitely cult-like. Geez...it is downright scary that someone even has that level of worship of any politician.

Not to mention some of the cult worship Obama posts that have cropped up here on VJ from time to time. I know others have seen them.

I doubt that you will find anything even remotely similar from the mainstream Right or people that consider themselves conservative. I've voted in US elections since 1976 and voted for various candidates from different parties. I have never held that type of cult worship for anyone I ever voted for. I don't even recall anyone I know or associate that has a worship fantasy for any politician. We may believe in our principles, but we do not worship our leaders.

So who the heck really is an "extremist" here? It's obvious to me.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Steven, you know as well as I do that there are just as many Left Wing Extremists as there are Right Wing ones. The difference is that now there's a Democrat in the White House, so you hear the Republicans making a stink. Go back a few years and the entire situation was reversed.

Right Wing Extremists want to push their agenda forward regardless of the fact that we just recently had an election and Obama won the popular vote.

Doesn't every extremist want to push their agenda regardless of anything else? Both sides? :P

I'm talking about the fact that we have a popular President who won the popular vote, which apparently makes no difference to these Right Wing Extremists who want to push their agenda onto the American people come hell or high water.

The UN Charter supports the right of all people to self-determination. Why do you oppose it, Steven?

You can't just pick and choose the parts of the UN Charter you agree with, you know. You gotta love it all equally.

Extremists don't want a political dialogue or healthy debate, they want to silence the popular majority. That's what the Radical Islamists do.

Context...all this talk of secession right now, after the Democratic Party won back the presidency and gained seats in Congress. This amounts to nothing but partisan hackery.

Public opinion can be changed, you know that. If public opinion in Texas is worked by pro-secessionists to the point where the majority support the option, you, being the UN-lover that you are, should be enthusiastic about them exercising the right the UN says they have!

Like Bush didn't inherit anything bad...remember Sept 11th??

With all due respect, Stina, Bush didn't 'inherit' 9/11.

The U.S. has never elected presidents based solely on the "popular vote." Having said that, I think it's a bit too early to either praise or condemn Obama. So both sides of the political fence really need to cool it until we see anything noteworthy occur.
