Just want to ask if there will be a problem if my Fiance is self employed?

- Like if he applied for K1, is there any problem that he will going encounter?

- Will he be avail to get me here in the Philippines and live with him in United State?

- What could be the chances? Would it be 60% to 100% that our papers will be

approve or it will be like 50-50% basis...?

Is anyone here has the same situation as I do?

- To those who have the same experienced here please

send me your ideas and experience regarding this matter...

And please let me know whats the best thing to do...

Your concern and kind help will be highly appreciated...

Thank you so much in advance!!!

hi!

my we filed K1 and my husband (then fiance) was self-employed, got his own business and all... we didnt actually encounter any difficulties because of it... we gave them all the docs they needed, as long as your fiance pass the poverty guideline and you can prove a genuine relationship, then nothing to worry about the interview... although yes being nervous is normal but you can do it!!! God bless!!!

Citizenship N-400

4/15/2010- sent my N-400 via fedex overnight

4/16/2010- signed and delivered

4/29/2010- check cleared

A lot of self employed people don't make a lot of money and/or their work isn't stable (their low income is actually a result of the instability). For this reason, if self employed, USEM wants to see 3 years of tax returns which are meant to show stability or instability. USEM doesn't want to see just the most recent tax returns or income statement for it could be the best of 3 years or the worst of 3 years.

When self employed, it is best to overwhelm USEM with evidence of exceeding the poverty guideline especially if your fiance is anywhere near the poverty guideline.

If your fiance greatly exceeds the poverty guideline there won't be an issue at all.

I'm self employed and have been for years. I make enough $s to more than qualify and brought my wife and her daughter.

Money talks and bullsh!t walks. Welcome to the USA!

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Just want to ask if there will be a problem if my Fiance is self employed?...

As long as he isn't one of those self employed who (works for cash) and doesn't file taxes or files but reports low income to avoid paying taxes, it won't be an issue. The embassy simply wants to see a proper tax return with adequate income- doesn't matter whether self-employ or not.
