Hello VJ members...

Quick question...Nadiya and I are making plans for our wedding here in the U.S. (church ceremony). We'd like very much for her mother to be able to attend it, however her mother is a PE teacher and doesn't have any property or a big bank account in Ukraine, therefore, I believe it will be extremely hard for her to get a tourist visa on her own. Question is, have any of you experienced the same type of situation?? and if so, will an Affidavit of Support letter be suficient to sustain her tourist visa application? r there any other options??? like I said before, she would be here only to visit, not to stay.

Thanks in advance guys.

This is something we are looking into for my MIL. I have spoken to many couples, some VJ members, American/Ukrainian or Russian and all that have tried this reported success in getting 5 year visitor visas for parents. And yes, they did give affadavits of support. One woman even got visitor visas for her brother and his wife and they were all here last fall (parents, brother and sister-in-law) for a few weeks. The visa is 5 years, unlimited entries, 90 days per visit.

VJ member "B&Y" is one of these. I wish I could tell you more details but I am just beginning to get into that myself. I have heard good things if an affadavit is presented and/or if parents are over age 65.

Cool Gary, good info...althought my mother in law is not yet 65, I don't know what else I can do besides an Affidavit of support to bring her here. But it is good to hear that it is possible.
